Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

For those of us with DDs - Bangs or no bangs??!

I am having a heck of a time deciding whether my daughter should or shouldn't have bangs.  Right now, her hair is 'no bangs' (since I hated mine growing up), but that means she has to have a little sprout on top of her head every day, and I'm not sure if I like that either (bald forehead and sprout).   We're totally in that weird transition phase with her hair. It's still baby fine, long on top but short in the back.....

Any suggestions!?!

TIA! :)

  • We are a NO BANGS house!  It took at least a month, but she finally leaves the hair clips in now... I just clip the bangs back to one side.

  • I got Tegan's haircut on the day of her bday party and I really wasn't wanting her to have bangs, but the lady cut bangs on her. At first, I was a bit PO'd, but there wasn't much I could do about it, at the time. Well, after a day or so, I really started to like them and I recently had them trimmed. I used to have to pull Tegan's hair into two pigtails and sometimes it was a huge PITA in the morning when she was keen on me fixing her hair. Now, all I have to do is comb it and go, it's awesome!

  • P.S. here is how she rolls:

Usually it all makes it into the clip but as you can see, the cupcake means end of the day and it was falling out :)

i'd be happy if she had bangs.  Right now the front of her hair is like 1/2" long!  She just cannot grow hair, especially in front lol.

i think for the first few years we'll do bangs or at least a 'do that angles outward some to keep it out of her eyes, but after that probably not.  The main reason is that her face is really round like mine and her hair is wavy like mine and i know i look like crap with bangs (at least, other than side-swept) so i suspect she'll look better without, too.

    This.

  • No bangs!  We are using clips to keep the hair to the side or I put a top of the head ponytail in.  It sucks, but I figure I may as well do it now then later.

  • No bangs here yet, but I'm seriously considering them.  DD has a LOAD of hair and has been wearing clips since around 6 months.  We can do ponytails too.  However, the past 2 weeks, she's been ripping the clips and bands out.  She's ok with headbands, which is weird because she would rip those out before, so for now we're sticking with headbands.  Her hair in the front is almost long enough to tuck behind her ears.
  • I didn't want to do bangs, because once you do them, then you have to work to get rid of them.  I just clip my DD's hair to the side (but sort of on the top too).

This. The back is all curls and I have curly hair so we'll see. I can't wait for pigtail ringlets that I had as a little.

Same here. We just started pigtails too...

  • DD has been sporting the clip for quite awhile, no turning back now! Her bangs are ALMOST as long as the rest of her hair...if she ever wants bangs, she's going to have to ask for them. I hated mine! lol

This. I've gone back and forth on the issue, but DH is totally against bangs. I think he just doesn't want to trim them, since DD would not sit still for that. We also do the "sprout", since she usually pulls out her hair clips. I'm hoping that's just a phase, though.

  • I'm very anti-bangs, especially do-it-yourself bangs or the straight across cut that includes half of the kid's head.  Mine were hideous as a kid and I just don't like them.

I do think that the in-between stage of hair growth is a pain without bangs, but my baby's hair stylist (yes, she has a stylist!  lol) said that it's even more of a pain with them because of having to keep up with cutting them. Allie has a ton of hair (super thick like mine) and we used to do the sprout, now I just put it half up, like this:

It almost looks like she has very light bangs because some of the hair in front is growing out.

  • No bangs. DD usually doesn't let me put barrettes/ pony tails in her hair. My solution is to put a tiny bit of gel in her hair and push it to the side. It works, but its not perfect.

  • I had bangs till I was about 15. It was a pain growing them out. DD is in the crazy hair period right now. I'd rather get it over with now than when she is older.

  • No bangs yet. For now we either just try to brush the hair out of her eyes or put clips in her hair (which she pulls out sometimes). I'm dreading getting her hair cut. For some reason, to me that would feel like she wasn't a baby anymore.

  • DD's hair is pretty thick and she has had two haircuts already. Right now we are going with bangs - it just looks really natural on her. She barely sits still now and I can't imagine trying to put her hair back with a clip every day. I grew my bangs out twice or more growing up, so I know it's a PITA, but I am not worried right now about that.
  • No bangs.  But still waiting on that hair to come in...
