Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

How many LOs do you want?

If this is your last, are you sad that there's a phase in your life that's completely done?

I want two, so I don't want the second child for a while so that I can savor it all again.

Re: How many LOs do you want?

  • So far I know for sure we will start TTC #2 in November. I want 2 kids DH wants 4 so I said we would meet in the middle at 3.

  • When I talked with DH about this I told him that I wanted at least 2 because I am not a fan of the idea of an only child but if we got up to 4 someone was having surgery (meaning him! lol). Plan on TTC #2 very soon.
  • One.

I'm not remotely sad about not having to go through pregnancy or the newborn phase again. I hated both and was miserable damn near every day until he started sleeping fairly well. Once he's done with teething, I'll be happy that's over. And the tantrums, and the miscommunications due to lack of language, and the general fussiness that comes with toddler-hood.

I do feel pangs when I think about how every good day we have is one less of that age range, and that one day he won't want to give kisses on demand, and won't want to read with me, and won't want to just be with me. But I trade those things in for a child I can hold a conversation with, can travel the world experiencing life with, and to generally hope to one day call him a friend as well as a son.

  • 3, if I had lots more money and DH was onboard (I don't think would EVAH happen), I would have 4.  Oh, and I go insane with just the three I have...

Yes. it is my last.  Yes, it is bittersweet.   I am so going to miss the excitement of a BFP, pregnancy, L&D and a newborn.  Although I am excited about watching my children grow and I am so happy that getting pregnant/next child isn't ALWAYS on my mind like it was.   We have a lot to look forward too, vacations, DS1 starting preschool and soccer.   I can't wait to have all three at the splash park this summer!   Enjoy every stage even the tough ones, it all goes by so fast!  I can't believe I am close to having a SIX year old!

  • I always said I wanted 4-5 kids.  DH wanted 2-3.  We agreed on 3-4 before we had kids.  We are 110% done with 3.  DS is amazing and wonderful and exhausting.  Two kids was good, but I didn't feel like our family was done.  Three is kicking my @ss most days.  I love it and I wouldn't change my family for anything, but we are definitely, completely done.

And yes, it's definitely very bittersweet as DS hits ever milestone.  His first birthday was hard for me.  He's walking almost 100% of the time and that hits me.  But at the end of the day, I'm looking forward to everything we can do with the kids now that he's getting older.  In a year or two, we can do a lot of the vacations we've wanted to do or things like that that we couldn't do or couldn't do as easily with a baby.  I'm looking forward to growing my business that I've dialed back on while I was PG and had newborns.  I just filled out the forms to register DS for MDO next year and I'm both excited and upset.  This is exactly what's right for our family...

  • 3-4, we'll start TTC in July/August of this year

  • We wanted 2, we have two. No, I dont feel sad that that phase of my life is done. I'm relieved.
  • We don't have a limit or a specific goal, just going with the flow. :)

  • We want 2, and we're starting our first IUI cycle next month! So, within the next 4 or 5 months (hopefully) we'll have another on the way and they will be ~2 years apart.

  • between 3-4.  I want another girl and DH wants a Boy, So if everything worked out perfectly we would have 3.

  • I only want two as well. I'm wanting another year before I get pregnant :)

Exactly this.  I always say "just one at a time."  For me personally, I don't know how you can *know* you're done until you're there.  But again, that's just me.  DH would be happy with as many as I want to have but I just don't know.  I'm hoping that we'll get to a point and feel done.

  • We are about to have #2. I'd like 3.

  • Two. I thought I wanted 3 but I know for sure only two.
  • I've always wanted 3, but you just never know. DS used to say he only wanted 2 but now he says he will give me as many babies as I want. I guess that means he kind of likes DS!!Wink

  • We want 2 LOs, so this one will be our last. I think I might be a little sad when it's done, but I'll also be relieved to have my body back and get back to normal and settle iin with 2 babes :)

  • We are planning on having 3 kiddos altogether.  So 2 more for me:)  I wanted at least 4 and DH wanted 2, so we settled for 3.  I am happy with that.  We are TTC now since we are 33 years old already and still want those 2 babies!

  • Definitely 2, maybe 3. It depends on how the next pregnancy goes and if I can talk DH into a 3rd.

  • Two or Three, we are still undecided. We are TTC #2 and then we are leaving an "open door" for about 7 years, we figure after A is almost 10, we probably won't want to go back to the infant stage.

We wanted 3 and we have 3.  I'm definitely done.  Three kids is my limit.

I'm a bit sad some days but other days I'm glad I'm done.  I'm too old (38) and tired to have another.  This one is wearing me out.   I'm glad I get to spend my days alone with him while my older kids are at school.  It's like he's an only child for a few hours a day.

  • DH and I decided "2 and we'll talk."  I've always said 2-3, he's always said 3-4 but I think DS is more work than he expected so I think he will be done after 2.

  • Right now, the "plan" is to be done after this one (our third).  I am not completely opposed to possibly adding a fourth in the next 2-3 years, but right now, we agree that three children is plenty.  And, it is a very bittersweet place to think this is quite possibly my last pregnancy.

  • We wanted 2 and got a couple bonuses!  Even with the foursome I don't feel like I am done but I know we have to be.  I am super sad that I only got to experience infantsy once.

  • I want at least two, maybe three.  I do want to space them out some though so we won't be TTC for at least a year or so.  I miss being pregnant even with some of the troubles I had along the way (PCOS, MTHFR hetero, Factor V homo).  I am not looking forward to repeating the sleepless nights of the newborn stage... or the continued sleepless nights like we had with DS until he was 9-10 months.  I'm savoring every moment with my little guy right now and am not in a rush to make him a big brother.

  • At least one more, maybe 2 more.

  • We both want 3.  We will be TTC # 2 within the next 6 mos.
  • We want 6, but a couple of those will probably be through adoption, so likely only 4 pregnancies for me.... unless I get multiples, then we would re-evaluate I guess.

  • Since I had DD at a young age (19) we get to space ours out, but we have always wanted 4.  Technically we want 6 though we want to do 2 adoptions a little later on once we are more established, hopefully we can get siblings, we want to adopt from Africa like a friend of mine did.  I really would love to be pregnant again right now but DH is not home enough for me to have sex with him lol!  Naw he is home, but we are just wingin it so far no baby in 18 months of not not trying.  Hopefully soon I will get a BFP... hoping..
