We were going to go snowboarding this 3-day weekend, but since B came down with a fever, we canceled the trip. Unfortunately, we probably won't be able to go again since MH doesn't have vacation days (new job) and it's going to be rough to do a 2-day trip (since we'd be driving).
So now I have this brand new Gap down jacket that I got for $20 a month ago for the trip. I really like it but we're not going to be able to use one until maybe next winter. I'd ideally exchange it for a bigger size (I got 12-18mo) but chances are that he'll need 2T (or at least 18-24mo) for next winter and it's all sold out (except for 6-12mo). So WWYD?
My options that I can think of (I'm open to other options that I haven't thought of as well!):
- return it (store credit--I don't have the invoice anymore)
- keep it for baby #2 (or 3)
- hope that B will fit in it anyway (he'll be 18mo in Nov but we usually don't snowboard until Jan/Feb to avoid the Christmas crowd)
- try to gift it (way in the future...my friends are nowhere near TTCing)
This is my first time buying baby jackets so I'm not even sure if $20 is that great of a deal or if it's "easy" to get another deal just as good for the similar quality jacket?
Re: WWYD? baby jacket
Sorry your trip fell through. Personally, $20 is a great deal on a quality-made warm coat like this and I'd just keep it. Perhaps he'll fit it the next time you go to a cold weather spot or you can use it for the next kid or donate/sell it if you don't end up needing it. When I was looking for a winter coat for Libby the cheapest I could find was $20 at Walmart and they weren't nearly as nice as the one you've posted. Those were in the $40+ range and even second-hand were about $20-30.
FWIW, Libby started wearing size 18/24 months this summer and is STILL In that size 6-7 months later. In fact, I am going to dig out the clothese she wore last summer since I think they'll still fit her this Spring/Summer.

True but I would think she could resell it for at least $20. Especially if it still has it's original tags still on it.

Well, at least I know that I got it for a good price because I thought it might've been a good price but I wasn't sure...
well I know you said he just shifted on the growth chart but check the WHO chart... on the CDC charts Miss A was dropping but when I plotted her on the WHO chart she dropped a little in the beginning but has since been plotting right along the curve perfectly so it would be quite easy to predict her size in the future. if B is doing that, then you could more easily plot him out and see how big he'll be next winter.
if not then i'd only do store credit if you can get the same amt back. w/o the receipt they'll give you the lowest selling price and w/winter sales it might be only a few bucks now
in which case you definitely should keep it and try to use it later or regift it

I would return it. For all the reasons listed above. I'd rather have $20 in the bank than a jacket that I might or might not use in the future. And, sorry, I would probably never sell it, so that's just adding a to-do to my list that'll never get done.
FWIW, $20 is pretty good for a jacket. I got a warm puffy toddler jacket and matching puffy pants with suspenders for $29 on Zulily. But I didn't love it. So I got a super cute hot pink quilted GAP jacket for $17 at my local consignment store. I also have a pink snowsuit covered in candy that was a free hand-me-down.

I would probably return it but would hate to return for less than I paid - do you have an email invoice with order number? (not sure it helps but I would try...)
I hate having things laying around - especially not knowing if the sizes will line up and I wouldn't want to deal with selling it.
