Paragard?

Hi gals! DH and I are looking for a non-hormonal, non-condom form of BC until we decide if we want to try for #3 ... does anyone here or has anyone here had paragard or had any experience (good or bad) with it?

I've obviously done the google search etc.. I was hoping to hear from real women though.

THANKS!

Re: Paragard?

  • I had Mirena, the hormonal type of IUD. I really liked how simple it was. The side-effects I didn't like were linked to the hormones (low sex drive, for example). I might be looking into the Paraguard, myself, after #2 - I think we just want two kiddos. The only bad thing I've found on it that I dislike are the heavy periods. On Mirena, I had no periods - it was bliss. haha :)

  • I have the Paragard.  I had issues with hormonal birth control, so it was the best option for me.  I used to have light, 3-day periods and now they're heavy and last a full week :(  It's totally worth it for me to not have to deal with the hormones, and you can't beat the convenience of an IUD.
