Ladies with inside and outside babies welcome.

Have you decided what form of birth control you're going to be using once you start doing the deed again? My 6 week PP checkup is 3/1, and I'm thinking I may ask about going back on the pill. DH and I are talking about TTC again in about 2 years, so we're not into using barrier methods that long if we can help it. KWIM? What are you and SO planning on doing?
Re: Poll: Birth control
Yeah, I'm scared of IUDs as well. I was on a low dose BCP before we decided to TTC (ortho tri cyclen lo), and I did really well on it.
Hi, Lily
Did you have to wait for your first PP period to start, or did you go on the BCPs right away?
My midwive just recently talked to us about this and let me know there are 2 options other than condoms:
1) a low progesterone pill - you can't go back on the other type of combination hormone pills if you are breastfeeding because it effects the body's ability to produce milk
2) an IUD which can be removed when you are ready to start trying for the next child
I am waiting to speak with my family doctor before deciding but right now i'm leaning towards number 2.
I actually had my first period during my 6 week pp checkup (I'm not breastfeeding, but I pumped for 4 weeks, and now the babes are FF). So I just started then.
Oh, ok. I just recently weaned from the pump, so I'm guessing I can expect to get mine sometime in the next couple weeks.
How are those babies doing? Are you staying sane?
They are great thanks
Saying as sane as humanly possible. I've been super blessed with great sleepers so that definitley helps. I'm on my own during the day now so its interesting.
How are you doing?
That's great! My little guy is a pretty good sleeper, too. I still have a few weeks left of mat. leave, and I'm trying to enjoy every minute that I'm home with him during the day. I hate the thought of leaving him!
We may try for a 4th eventually, but for now since I am breastfeeding we will just use condoms. I don't want to go back on the pill and my OB doesn't really advise any of the hormonal methods during BFing. (Apparently he has had a few women have their milk dry up even with the mini-pill...Whatever.) I charted successfully until we got pregnant with #3 so once I'm comfortable with my cycle (when it returns) I will probably chart again.
I talked to my doctor. I was on ortho-tri-cyclen lo before I got pg. I mentioned that I was interested in the NuvaRing. My doctor said she really likes the ring because there's no pill to remember every day. I agree with her, forgetting to take a birth control pill is a lot different than forgetting your vitamin, for instance.
So now I'm on the ring. I really like it. It's easy to insert (seriously, unless you're an idiot you can't screw it up) and you don't have to remember the pill. All you have to remember is to take it out and put a new one in. I don't feel it at all, DH doesn't feel it either.
Since this was number 4, I got my tubes tied and I am so happy about it.

I'm breastfeeding so I will be going on a low dose progesterone pill until I stop nursing and then will go back on what I was on before (Ortho Tri Cyclen I think). The pill worked great for us, I am great at taking it every day and it helped with the issues I had with crazy irregular periods.
My doctor wants me on the low-dose pill by four weeks just in case my body decides to produce an egg, because I got pregnant within weeks of stopping the pill and we never know what my body is going to do, even though I'm EBFing. We are one-and-done but don't want to do anything more drastic just yet because we're young and might change our minds.
