blood in poop (xpost)

Hey mamas.  Our LO has been experiencing blood in his poop and our pediatrician had me remove milk and soy from my diet to see if it is a food sensitivity.  This morning marks 7 days since changing my diet and LO had his bloodiest diaper yet.  We are going to call the pediatrician when the office opens but I was wondering if anyone else has been through this.  Any advice?

Re: blood in poop (xpost)

  • DD had multiple severe food allergies.

Are you sure you removed ALL dairy? Even trace amounts? It's hidden in many items - and the milk proteins can be called many things - whey, casein, milk protein.  If you have, it can take two weeks to get it all out of your (and his) system, so it could be residual.

Good luck - hope he's feeling better soon!!!

  • I had this with dd and I had to get her to Nutramigen formula... hypoallergenic and no milk or soy.

They also ran cultures on her poop to make sure she did not have an infection. It was the formula and allergy to milk and soy. She is four years old now and out grew them both by about 18 months.
