The good news: Spotting hasn't started up again. U/S showed the embreyo was in the ute. It was measuring 6w0d, which is where I should be by my O date.
The not-great-but-not-bad news: There was no hb visible (I'm telling myself it was just a little too early...please tell me I'm right). They seemed to suspect I might have a bicornate uterus. I think its unlikely as after my hysteroscopy it was never mentioned (pretty sure I'd have been told that one), more likely my fibroid on the top of the ute is getting in the way. My official dx: A good old 'Threatened Abortion'. Thankfully I knew that was a likely dx going in. Plus, realistically every pg for me is a threatened miscarriage in my eyes until proven otherwise...so their dx didn't change anything. They never did find a source for the bleeding either.
So that's the low down. Spent the ENTIRE day in the ER and/or radiology. Highlight (and I'm being completely sarcastic here) was when the tech tried once to look with the vagcam and couldn't see anything for sure. Gave me a drink of water to help clear air bubbles out and left me alone, in the u/s room, for like 20 minutes. Needless to say I was in tears by the time she came back. I'd been freaking out on the inside since last night and lying there knowing she was having trouble seeing what she needed to see didn't give me warm fuzzies. My only u/s experience prior was during my m/c which needless to say was not pleasant. When she came back she found things easier, thank goodness.

Completely possible that at 6W the HB isn't visible because it's too early. Are you able to go back in a week?
Glad the spotting stopped and you got in today!

They sent in a referral to OB to get the ball rolling on follow ups. I don't know when they'd want me to come in. I think its usually ~10 weeks for a first u/s there. I guess we shall see. I am going to ask for another one though, and 10 weeks is the latest I'd like it by. Both to see there is progress and bc I'd really like to tell our parents at 10 weeks and I majorly need to see a hb first before we tell anyone. If they say to come back in a week or two that would be even better.
Its not really coverage thats my issue with insurance, I know I have OB coverage no matter what (the military hospital has an OB ward). Its whether insurance will pay for me to go to my civilian OB thats the question. So far the verdict is no for that.

6w0d for the heartbeat is a 50/50 shot. I didn't see a heartbeat at 5w5d, but saw it at 6w3d.
I went to the ER for bleeding during my 6th week as well. They couldn't find a reason for it, but then when I went to the RE's office, they used a better u/s machine and found that I had a small SCH which was causing it. It caused me to bleed lightly for about a week, and then it went away.

Continued T&Ps that it's just early or they couldn't see it for some reason. Doesn't the heart just begin to beat around 6w? I'm sure at 6w0d it's normal for them to not hear it every single time, babies all develop differently and a heartbeat at 6w is probably just the norm but not the only way it can go.
I'm sorry you had such a rough day though. I totally understand the ultrasound thing, I had six and they were all bad news ones, so I'm pretty traumatized about getting another one. Even now seeing u/s pics makes me tear up because I just have such a bad association with them. I'm so sorry you had to wait there alone, I am sure that was upsetting and scary.

I think its like 50/50 odds to see a hb at 6w0d. They didn't seem phazed by not seeing it and I knew many of the ladies here hadn't seen it at about the same point but were fine weeks later.
Hopefully I can get in there in the next couple weeks for a follow-up. The 10 week thing is the longest I can imagine it taking.
Having to go solo kind of sucked. I've gotten used to doing thing solo though, so it kind of is what it is. I'm just thankful my DH was at home when I got home so I could tell him what was up in person. Having to do so via email if he was deployed would be a lot harder.
