I have had a pretty uneventful pregnancy. No major concerns, one trip back in Oct to the ER and it ended up being nothing. I am on the "high risk" list because of a blood clot I had over a year ago, mini stroke. I am on 81 mgs of baby asprin and expected to have a normal delivery, with people on stand by just in case.
My OB has said the last three appointments that "If you don't deliver by 36 weeks we'll do another U/S". I never thought much about what he said because it just seemed weeks away.
Now I keep thinking does he feel she would come a month early and if he did why isn't he telling me something? I know she will be born when she is ready, I am in no rush to feel she needs to be here now. Just find it odd the OB would say that.
Maybe its my age I don't know. I have the day off work and have baby things on my mind.
Re: My OBs odd wording.
I don't think he meant anything by it. People deliver prior to 36 weeks a lot even when they've had a normal pregnancy. I think he was just giving you a timeline to look forward to. At least that's how I would have taken it!
Thank you makes me feel better. Also I had been asking if I was getting another U/S and he could have been saying it to that effect.
Having days off with nothing to do just gets my brain going all sorts of ways.
At my appt yesterday I was told pretty much the same thing. If the baby isn't here by 36 weeks that will be my next ultrasound. From what was explained to me, it is because at 36 weeks they can get a better idea of how big the baby is/going to be and if the head is down. My doctor doesn't like to do it before 36 weeks because there is still a lot of time that the baby could flip (even though there is still time the baby could flip after 36 weeks too).
I wouldn't worry too much about it. If they really thought you were going to have the baby early they would/should tell you. My drs tell me at every appt to be prepared for the baby by 36 weeks because they do think there is a great chance I could deliver early.
