Double Stroller HELP: If you have LOS 2 1/2 to 3 Years Apart

I am at a loss as to where to start here. At 23 months, my DS still needs to be strollered if we go to the mall, run into the grocery store, etc. I cannot trust him to hold my hand.

I was thinking of a sit-n-stand, but the toddler seat is so uncomfortable looking. Right now, DS will still fall asleep in his stroller on longer outings (Disney World, zoo, etc.) but who knows how that will be in 6 months.

I want to start walking ASAP after new baby is born. We live in Florida so I definitely want dual sun shades. The other requirements are deep storage and something compatible with my Chicco infant seat. This stroller business is totally stressing me out.

  • Don't get a sit n stand if storage is something you want, because you can't get into the basket. I have a sit n stand elite and I hate it. The front seat always falls back into recline position making poor Ana look like a low rider, not to mention the fact that it irritates her. (and me) It also doesn't take bumps, curbs, etc very well. Doesn't turn well. The toddler seat is uncomfortable and the whole thing is just cheaply made.

I would either look for a different stroller (friends have a city mini which seems really awesome) or keep your current stroller and wear the baby for walks. In another 6 mos your big boy should be walking holding your hand just fine.

You can also get one of these "Buggy Boards" that just clips on your stroller, for the toddler to ride on. If I had it to do over again, I'd get this.

  • We have a sit n stand and I like it for the most part.  My daughter does not want to sit in a normal stroller seat yet it is easy enough to convince her to stand and ride on the stroller.  The seat isn't the most comfortable thing but to me that doesn't matter as she mostly stands and it's rare that we use it for something long like you would at Disney say...

It does not have good storage though but that really hasn't bothered me...I don't use the storage as much as I thought I would want to.  I do agree though that it is not the greatest on bumps and corners...however I feel like that is the case with long double strollers...I have never pushed one with kids in it and though it took corners real well etc...

For me I still feel like it is the best option for us... and it is nice too when we have my nephew also that both of them can stand and ride on the back.

  • Eli is 30 months old and still LOVES his stroller.   For that reason, I do not want a sit and stand.  We just purchased a City Mini double and Eli loves it.  Now I haven't used it for baby yet obviously, but I figured if I got something Eli would like it would help.  We use the stroller in the mall, the zoo, etc.  I figure for Target, he can sit in the back of the cart.  I'm super excited to be able to use it.

  • I have the Baby Jogger City Select.  I thought about the City Mini but the side by side didn't work so well in small NYC stores.

So far I love the city select.  I love the 16 combinations it does and how easy it is to change the seats.  The only down side that I've seen so far is it's heavy with a 3 year old and a 6 month old.  But I suppose that would be true with any double stroller.
