we are relatively new to LA and I want ideas on where to take DS to have fun. I SAH so anything the two of us can do together as well as the family would be great! Getting a membership at the zoo looks like a good deal ($80/year). We are considering Disneyland in the next couple of months too. Is the cost of a resident pass worth the money and is the $239 per PERSON? Yikes. Are there any deals or specials that residents know of to take advantage of? TIA!
DH & I take DD to Griffith Park to ride ponies and sit on the train. Pony rides are $3 each and train tickets are $2.50 each. It's fun watching DD have such a good time.
Travel Town near Griffith Park. It is a train museum, free and they can go inside old trains. It is pretty cool. I odn't know how old your son is but nephew is 4 and he loooves it. Like pp, you can also pay to ride on the train.
