Hi ladies,
I was just told last week at my u/s that I have complete placenta previa. I am on pelvic rest and cannot fly (I travel a lot for work). My dr. said she would know better if it moves in a month or two otherwise she might recommend bedrest. I am scared because I had a miscarriage at 4 months last year and had a d&c. I read in "what to expect.." that a D&C is a reason for the complete pp. Either way, I don't want to risk anything.
Please let me know your experiences w/ pp. How you handled it if you had more than one child?
Thanks in advance!
Re: XP: Placenta Previa
I had a partial (almost complete though) non-moving placenta previa with DD2. It was mentioned at my 13 week u/s, officially diagnosed at 20 weeks and it never moved. 95% of previas "move" by delivery time according to my OB and all the research that I could find. I was put on pelvic rest from 13 weeks on but never was put on lifting restrictions. My DD1 was 6 months when I found out that I was expecting, so I had to lift her. I am also a nurse and my OB still let me work but discouraged frequent lifting if possible.
I had a small bleed at 30 weeks exactly and a large bleed at 33w4d. She was born the day of my large bleed. She was 4 lbs 5 ozs, 16.5 inches and absolutely beautiful. She was a rockstar in the NICU and was discharged 11 days later.
I'm sending prayers that your previa resolves quickly with gives you no issues!
I was also diagnosed with complete placenta previa - but at a 22 week ultrasound. I have a follow up U/S finally next week at 31 weeks to check on the placenta. I am really hoping it has moved, I would much prefer to deliver vaginally. I will also be closely monitored from 32 weeks on because of gestational diabetes. I am surprised that PP said Pelvic rest wasn't lifted when it was moved!! waah, I didn't know that!
My doctor did not seem very confident that it would move, she said the complete previas are less likely to move than the partials or something. I am still hopeful. I did not have PP with my son or have any prior placenta issues.
I am still working FT, my restrictions are try not to lift over 20 lbs, complete pelvic rest. My son is 3 and 37 lbs so sometimes I pick him up but try not to ever carry him especially downstairs, though the lazy boy in the morning usually wants me to, I just offer to hold his hand.
