Trying to Get Pregnant

My Health Regimen

I decided to post this because Ive had several ladies PM me about every thing I do/ have done in order to make my LP longer and to make my body more prepared for pregnancy. Let me preface this by saying what works for me may NOT work for you and before you make any drastic changes please speak to your doctor first. I did a lot of research on how to help my body naturally and I found what works for me. Keep in mind that everything I changed in my diet and other areas I changed gradually and not all at once.

My diet:

I am underweight so I get as many calories as I can in a day but I try to stick with healthy nutritious stuff too. I do lots of whole fat organic dairy products, avocados, olive oil and other "good for you" fatty foods.

I juice. I own a Jack Lalanne Power Juicer (highly recommend if you juice or want to juice a lot but be warned its a PITA to clean). I juice a salad worth amount of fresh spinach leaves, a bunch of grapes, 2 carrots, a slice of pineapple (when I have it), and 2 apples daily.

I add Benefiber powder to Pom juice (8 oz) that I drink daily until O. During O or on days I dont drink Pom juice I add it to some other food or drink.

I eat a cup of yogurt every day. Organic Greek with 5 or 6 live active cultures. This helps regulate my CM and the PH in your lady parts. It also helps with digestion.

I eat as much organic as possible. (not typically meats but I try to stay away from meat generally. I usually have one meal a day with meat in it).

I try to get plenty of protein.

I drink tons of water or whole milk throughout the day.

I exercise lightly once a week. I try not to do too much b.c my doctor said a higher fat content would help my cycles to regulate. This is specific to me and not everyone so talk to your doc before you change your exercise habits. I do know there is a specific body fat content doctors like women TTC to have and it isnt good to be over or under.

I take a lot of supplements and Im going to list them here. Again, speak to your doctor before you change anything. Some of the stuff I take for TTC purposes, some I take for other reasons, and some I take just for the health benefits.

100mg B6 daily (due to my LPD. B6 has lengthened my LP by 4, almost 5 days)

1500mcg B12 daily

Prenatal Vitamin daily

2000IUs Vitamin D daily (I also sit outside at least 15 minutes a day so that the Vit D can absorb in my body. Vit D is activated by UV rays on your skin. You cant just sit by a sunny window, you have to actually go outside.)

360mg Fish Oil (mercury free kind only) 2 times a day

1000mg organic Flax Seed Oil 2 times a day

500 mg L-Lysine (an amino acid sup) daily

2000mg Cranberry extract 2 times a day (this helps prevent bladder infections and UTIs related to lots of sex).

I hope this helps for those who asked the questions. It's just easier to put it all in one spot instead of sending a bunch of PMs. Again, dont change anything without first speaking to your doctor to make sure it is safe for YOU because every person is different and needs different things. I will say that by changing my eating and nutrition habits I FEEL better but my body is finally doing all the "right" things that it wasnt doing before. I hope this helps.

Thanks for putting this up Kara!  I've also started changing my diet in the last month and boy has it made a difference in how I feel.  I am doing a mostly clean eating diet (I use the word mostly b/c I am still new and not trying to overwhelm myself at this point.) I should try the juicer.

I also take L-Lysine on a regular basis.  It's great for good skin health and keeps cold sores away.  And I also take a cranberry supplement which has really done wonders on keeping UTI's away as well.

One other thing that I have started using in the last month is sinuflo.  It's a nasal rinse that keeps me from taking medication such as Sudafed.

I am so happy that things are going so well for you.  I <3 you girl!

Oh yeah girl. I still splurge on certain foods too haha. I try to stay away from "bad" fats and too many sugars (this doest always happen. Case and point the pizza and ice cream I had last nice haha).

I LOVE L Lysine because I get canker sores ALL THE TIME! If I take the L Lysine consistently it keeps them at bay. I also read something that said L Lysine can also help regulate CM and keep it from being too sticky around O time. IDK how true it is but it seems to be the case for me lately haha.

I also love my Cranberry. Its amazing.

Ill have to check out the nasal spray especially since pollen season is about to go in to full swing here in the dirty south haha. I usually have a sinus infection at least 2 times a year, itd be great to skip it this year haha.

I love you too girl! I hope the new diet helps out for you! Im so ready for you to get KTFU! Ive been chart stalking you for far too long now ;-) Maybe we can move on together haha.
