IUI ladies - anyone else have this fear?

Hi all - I was just wondering if I am the only crazy person around. ?Since my IUI was successful, I am worried that they may have mixed up DH's sample with someone else's. ?The way my clinic does things, is that the men all drop off their sample between 7:30 and 8:15, then the IUIs start at 10am. ?We had both IUIs on the weekend, and only one lady was working in the lab. ?When we did they IUI, the lady came in with a test tube that was labeled with my name and DH's name, both hand written. ?I had to sign a paper saying it was our names. ?There were about 4 other men dropping of samples that morning for IUIs. ?I am hoping this is totally irrational, but it has been in the back of my mind since our IUIs. ?Anyone else? ?Thanks!

I had that fear with IVF!! heck my baby could still come out a different color than us!! lol. I sure hope not! I know it's such a tiny tiny chance of happening, but of course it has happened!

At my clinic I had to initial the vial of sperm before my that had dh's name on it and HIS initials....

but I didn't have to do that with IVF!

I was actually thinking about this last night. You just have to trust that they have a good system in place (or that the other guy looks like your DH!). I dont think it is an irrational fear but I would NEVER mention it to DH.

I did think that, but the nurse showed me the vial with his name on it, and had DH approve it too (he stayed) and DH replied back ..... yup that's me, but it wasn't pink when I left it with you Big Smile

LOL, my DH actually brought it up to me (I can't remember if it was our first or second round of IUIs). ?He said that the lady seemed so confused that I probably got some other guy's sperm. ?That has not helped with my fear!?

We joke about it all the time actually. Like saying how rich we'll be if there was a mix up, etc. It's a good thing we both have a good sense of humor.

At my clinic, we label the sample at home. Then take it to the RE's where they have me sign off on something with DH's info. (since I was always the one dropping it off). When it's time for the IUI all of the labels on his sample are written by me and I have to sign off on them yet again.

That's not to say someone couldn't have mixed up the labels in the process. There was a mix up at my clinic several years ago. EEK!

I was just so thrilled to be pg, that I didn't care whose baby if they made a mistake.

My DS acts just like my DH already, so I know that there wasn't a mix up.

YES. I have had that fear ever since the procedure. I know they take all the required precautions - but you hear about things like that happening all the time. Only time will tell, i suppose.

Add me to the list of people who have thought and worried about this! I asked a few other IF girls I know and they have all had this cross thier minds too. Don't worry about it, there is lots of checking and rechecking at each clinic to be sure nothing like that happens.

I worry about that with IVF too sometimes. In fact, the day of our transfer, the RE thought we were someone else and called me by a different name and then when the embryologist called out our name for us to verify he apologized. I was ok since the embryologist had it right and they were the ones handling the goods, but still a little jarring! I know our Doodles certainly looked like us so I'm confident they were ours.

It was never a real fear- more like a joke b/t DH and me - b/c we are both so pale we said if the baby came out with any bit of a tan - we'd be suing the IF clinic big time

don't worry- they have so many safeguards to make sure that doesn't happen - otherwise they would be out of business with all the law suits

Ugg! I have thought about that a few times! Haven't mentioned it to DH though- don't need him wondering. LOL

We did IVF and I had this fear. There was a chinese couple doing cycle at the same time as us and I was worried that I was going to end up with their baby.
