Sling help with a toddler?

DS has been digging the sling lately, especially when I'm cooking dinner/doing housework at night.  I've got him on my left hip, and he's a big boy (27 pounds at 11 months, eek!).

My shoulder is killing me.  The ring keeps sliding until it's right on my shoulder, digging in, and I can't seem to keep the fabric spread to balance the weight.  What am I doing wrong? Is there a way to safely keep him sling-i-fied without messing up my opposite shoulder?

Re: Sling help with a toddler?

  • What kind of sling are you using? And do you have him in a really, really deep pocket, with knees higher than bum? A PIP may help.

  • I'll try to PIP tonight; it's a SBP basic sling.  The pocket does seem to help, but he's so wiggly that I think that's part of the problem.  He won't tolerate being in anything but the RS at home.
