Ergo - Original vs. Sport?

Opinions, experiences? I'm leaning towards the sport because it adjusts to larger sizes and for breathability in Texas heat. However, is it as awesome as the original? Is it as comfortable for us and the baby? Can the baby comfortably sleep in a carrier so small? Is the fabric as sturdy, etc...? TIA!

Re: Ergo - Original vs. Sport?

  • We have the sport and I LOVE it.  It is way lighter than the original and I honestly prefer the breathable fabric to the heavier canvas fabric of the original.  I don't think the shoulder pads are as thick as they are with the original, but I didn't really notice a difference in my comfort level.  DD seems perfectly comfortable in it, too.  It seems sturdy enough to me - I have no complaints!

  • I'm butting in here to rec the moby for when baby is itty bitty.  We have the infant insert for the ergo and Alice still seems to be lost in it.  She's about 14 pounds now.  She absolutely loves the moby, though, and often when we are out I'll pop her in there just so she can sleep even if we have her carseat with us.  I think the ergo is gonna be great in a couple of months, but for now the moby is better.

This exactly.  We have an ergo for my 4month old, and every couple weeks, we'll try to put her in there, but she doesn't like it just yet.  I'm hoping she'll take to the ergo soon (mainly for daddy's sake), but for now, she LOVES being in the moby, facing out.  She'll hang out in the moby for 2 hours if there's enough people-watching for her!  I thought the moby looked too complicated at first, but after one or two times, it's super-easy to put on.  I love it for grocery shopping, basketball games, chores around the house, etc.

  • Thanks guys! I have a moby, but only know one wrap ... The newborn I think? I guess I need to get the book out and practice some more.
