Pregnant Breastmilk...changes in toddler digestion?

I am not sure if my milk turning saltier could cause looser BMs in my nursing toddler? I thought the major changes would be the colustrum coming in mid-way through.  He still wants to nurse but I have noticed that he has had a couple of blow-outs in the last week or so...I was wondering (hoping) that my changes in breastmilk wouldn't be making him ill?

  • i'm nak, so sorry for the lower case.  how far along are you?  my colostrum came in at about 26-ish weeks, and it definitely loosened ds up, but it never gave him diarrhea.  my guess is that if he's that loose there is something else going on with him.  In my ds' case, it was a good thing b/c he's always had a bit of trouble with hard stools no matter how much water and fruit/veggies i got down him.  it softened him up just enough to make it easier and more normal.

  • the biggest change i noticed is that it fattened my little girl up a bit! can i just say that it's so nice to see other tandem nursers on here. best thing i ever did for the two of them. so easy too! my daughter is 4.5, and starting to nurse only every few days. my son 2x or so a day
  • Congrats on your pregnancy!  How far along are you?  I am almost 8 weeks.  DD has nursed a lot in the last couple of days.  She had her first cold recently and I thought that could be why.  She has been better for days now, but is still nursing a lot.  I did notice that her stool has changed to a softer consistency and are more yellowish.  No blowouts yet.  I am keeping my fingers crossed!

I also thought that DD could be nursing more due to a dip in my supply or because the flavor has changed and she likes it.  Not sure, but I will just go with it for now.  Good luck with your pregnancy!
