RP: Is it possible?

I just posted this in the 3rd tri board, but wanted to see what you ladies thought, too.

I am wondering if my dog can sense my labor coming on.  I have a 2 year old mixed breed dog, Shorty.  She is generally very active and has lots of energy.

Lately, she's been super clingy with me, but today, she spent the entire day in a separate room (by herself, sleeping in the dark). Now, it IS my first day on maternity leave and she's used to being alone all day and therefore, I would assume, sleeping all day, so maybe it's just that.  Or maybe she's sick and I should take her to the vet.

What are the chances she knows something we don't yet?

  • My dog knew I was in labor before I did. She was very clingy for a couple days before, just like you are saying, and then the night I went into labor she would let us leave to go to the store without her and then when we left to go to the hospital she tried so hard to go with us. It was heartbreaking. Your dog definitely may sense something at this point and staying away may be her way of dealing with it. Hopefully your doggy is right with her feelings and you will be meeting your LO soon!

  • I think they can too. My dog always seem to sense when I am sick, anxious, etc... Lately he has been really clingy and wants to be in the same room with me ALL the time. I think it knows the baby is coming soon.

Maybe it is close for you!! Good luck
