UGH!!! So many strollers and choices I am going nuts!

Ok...so here is the story....I have always wanted a Bugaboo especially for the bassinet attachment that makes it look like a buggy. However, it is was to dang much money. Therefore, my options have now changed. I now want something that is easier to use, but solid/good construction, as the options or comes with a bassinet along with an infant seat adapter. I have looked at Britax B-Ready, BabyJogger City Select, Graco Stylus Travel System, and the Teutonia. I just simply wish a store had all of these in one place for me to look at.

Does anyone have any advice and/or suggestions?? Let me know!

  • pretty sure Baby On Grand has all of those except the graco. Graco you'll probably have to go to BRU to see in person.

I personally, would not shop at Baby On Grand anymore, but I have gone in to look at things. USA baby might have them too. Pacifier might too, actually.

That said, I just got my city select on Friday. I LOVE it. LOVE. Albeebaby.com has some awesome deals on the 2010 version right now.

  • I believe Pacifier has all 3 except the Graco. They were having a sale this past week and I think strollers were 35% off.

  • As far as testing things out, I liked BabyGrand.  I ended up buying my double from diapers.com because it was like $300 cheaper being on sale and with a 15% off coupon code.

Things to consider:  Where will you be using it the most (outside, inside, ect), how often will it have to go in the trunk/size of trunk/ease of folding?

I would have never been able to use the bassinet feature with either of my kids because they both had reflux and couldn't ever lay flat.

Not sure what your due date is, but if it's a summer baby a good sunshade is a must.

  • I know you said you wanted a bassinet but one of the most helpful advise I can tell you well stroller shopping is start out with the simple Click-n-go stroller frame (where the carseat just clicks right in) That way ones your LO is here you can see what kind of stroller works best for you & your LO. That way you don't spend a lot of money on something that dose not work for you.
  • I have also heard that the click and go strollers do not hold up as well as a real stroller option. Thoughts?

What do you mean by this? It's great well the little one is still in a carrier. Plus you can find them cheap on CL so you really don't need to use it for that long before you get your money worth. I should add that I did have my City Mini before my son was born & found that the click & go worked great for quick trips places but was not good for when I would want to go walk around the mall (I did later get the part the turned my City Mini into a "travel system") . But had I not already fell in love with & was gifted a City Mini I would had waited until my son was here & we could test them out together.

  • I by no means meant to upset anyone regarding the click and go...I simply want to know people's advice on how they made the stroller choice.

Oh don't worry I was just unsure what you meant I have been told some do wear out fast so I was just wondering if that is what you meant or if there was something else.

But I will agree there are so many good strollers out there to pick from it's hard to pick just one.

This would be why we have 5 strollers in our garage right now.

OP, if you decide you like the bumbleride flyer, we have one to get rid of ;)! I love it, we just don't need it now that we have the city select.

We have three and I would really like a lightweight single (and who am I kidding, a double too).  There is no real "perfect" stroller for everything unfortuately.  But if I could do it all over again, I would have skipped the travel system since the stroller is nothing to get excited about when not being used as a system.  I think I would have done something with air-filled tires for outside use like a Bob and something lightweight like a Maclaren.

    May I ask why?

OP- We're pretty set on the Uppababy Vista, which does have the bassinet option, carseat option, and seat, which can face forward or backward.

IT's very similar to the B-Ready. I read somewhere that starting March 1st Britax is having a huge sale where you can get either the bassinet or the infant carrier for free when buying the B-Ready.

    HTH.

This is the review I left on their FB page: 3 years ago, Baby on Grand went above and beyond to help my inlaws buy the car seat for us as a shower gift when USA baby treated them horribly.

I called them a few weeks ago to see if they would price match an online retailer on a stroller. When they said they could get within 50 dollars, my husband and I decided to buy local and spend the extra money. I was told they definitely had a stroller for us, but they couldn't guarantee color. This wasn't important to us, so we said we would take what ever color. In the next 2 days, I made 3 unreturned phone calls, trying to get information on when they would have have the stroller and which color they were going to have available for us. We also stopped in the store to look at another product and spoke to Katie, she knew we were wanting to buy the next day and promised a phone call "that afternoon" with the information. Never called. I called 3 times the next day (the day we had been wanting to purchase), and each time I spoke to someone different, who promised they "would call the Hopkins store right now and get the answers and call me back".
When I didn't get a return call that night, we ordered online. I finally received a call back from Katie a week later. She never apologized for the lack of customer service, but explained that contrary to what we had been told, they did NOT actually have a stroller for us. But, since one customer changed their mind, we were now lucky because they had one now. Never did she once apologize for the lack of response or poor service.

The sad part, is that had they just called and told us they oversold and did not have the stroller, we still would have purchased all the accessories...a purchase that would have been well over 100 dollars. We also would have been back to look for nursery furniture. Now, we'll never be back.

I've spoken to quite a few people about our experience, and no one I've talked to has had a good experience recently. One of my friends got 2 defective cribs and they had to fight with them to get their money back, even after one of the staff went to their house and determined that it was indeed defective and not just user error.

  • HTH...Where did you read this about the Britax sale? Let me know. If this is true, it would be great to mention this to Baby on Grand as well. Anytime I can get a good deal i love it!

Doubles are easier in the sense that there are less choices and harder that they're so expensive.  The most popular/ best rated I found were Bob Revolution, Baby Jogger City Mini, Bumbleride Indie Twin, and the Baby Jogger City Select.  I think I watched all the reviews videos on babygizmo.com a million times. (Moms on the 2u2 board recommended that site.)

I test drove all of them and ended up with the Indie Twin.  My toddler seemed the most comfortable in the seat of that one compared to the others.  It's perfect for outdoors.  It pushes just as well as my single strollers and can turn easily.  The only drawbacks is that sometimes racks in the mall are too close together and make for a tight squeeze and it's really heavy to lift in and out of the trunk.

Don't get tricked by the Kolcraft Countours.  I found one used for a really good deal, thinking it would be nice to have a front to back stroller too.  The only positive for it is that it has a huge basket.  Other than that it was pretty worthless.  It was impossible to steer, took up whole trunk of an SUV, and needed to be taken apart completely to be put in the car.

  • Yikes. That is too bad about Baby on Grand. We got our BJ City Select there in August and had a great experience. I actually had a really negative experience at Pacifier, which is how I ended up at Baby on Grand.

To the OP: I thought I really wanted the Uppa Baby b/c of the bassinet too, but have been really (really really) happy with the BJCS. I found the Uppa hard to fold and it wasn't as tall as the CS, which for 2 tall parents was an issue. I just overall liked the BJCS better, but I wouldn't have known that had I not gone and looked at them side by side.

I don't miss having the bassinet, but if it's a MUST for you, you can order it as an accessory for about $60.

I got the car seat adapter and it's really easy to switch back and forth between snapping in his infant car seat and using the seat that came with the stroller.
