I don't know when I'm supposed to start Stella on meat products, but meat in jars totally grosses me out! Am I the only one? Meat grosses me out to begin with, but the thought of it pureed is even worse!
I never gave any of my kids meat until they had enough teeth to chew it. Meat in jars totally makes me gag. I certainly don't think it's bad for babies (or that others shouldn't give it to their children) but I just couldn't do it. All my kiddos got meat (usually chicken) around 12-15 months or so... cut up super tiny, like the size of tic tacs and did just fine with it. Before then they had plenty of yogurt, beans, hummus, cottage cheese and almond butter for protein.
Meat in jars is nasty! I never gave it to my kids. They didn't really start eating meats until they were able to eat finger foods. They got enough protein through BM. My MIL thought I was nuts and even bought a couple jars of those meat sticks! Those were thrown in the trash as soon as she left.
I couldn't do meat in jars. It made me gag. We were fortunate that Leah preferred table food early on and we really went straight from stage 2 fruits and veggies to table foods-- shredded turkey, little pieces of chicken, etc.

I'm glad I'm not the only one! I'll just keep her on my vegetarian diet until she's old enough to chew the meat!
The only meat in jars we did was sweet potatoes with chicken and you honestly couldnt tell that it was chicken. It looked and tasted just like pureed sweet potato (I taste all of Nick's food, if I expect him to eat it it needs to be palatable to me too) lol

We did this one and I think there was one that was like apples with chicken (some meat with apples). Other than that, I agree... the rest were nasty.
When he started eating table foods, I shredded some deli meat from my sandwich (eg, turkey, bologna, ham, etc...). I think that was around 10-12 mos.
I think we started giving Fin some meat at 9 or 10 months, just little bites of our food once he was chewing food pretty well. I tried some chicken and dumplings or something like that in a car, and he gagged, and spit it all out. And then kept spitting... until he got every bit of it out of his mouth. We never made that mistake again, ha!
She's getting all her nutrition from your BM right now, so all the table food is mostly practice right now anyways

Baby Sister is coming soon!
We made our own baby purees. Fresh made meats are great to mix with all kinds of things like spinach, rice, sweet potatoes, apples, peas, etc. Just cook the meat then stick in blender with other goodies! DD loved chicken with rice and peas. Beef with carrots and pasta and turkey with spinach and rice.
We have never used it with either kid. I just waited till they had enough teeth to have some of the softer meats (like deli meat) or cut very small. I think with both our boys it wasn't till 11-12 months.

DD #1 made it through babyhood without that experience...thank goodness for me. I'm sure it's fine and she probably would have enjoyed it but I couldn't handle the thought or smell. We started shredded chicken and beef close to her 1 year birthday.
I'm not going to lie, my MIL bought some of those meat in jar thingies back when DS was little and once night (when I wasn't home mind you) my DH actually opened one up and fed it to our son.
I immediately threw the rest of the jar away and we never bought any more after that! Instead we fed DS tiny bits of chicken, ground beef and lunchmeat once he was ready (and had enough teeth to chew it). GL!
We tried it, but like others I was repulsed. However we did do the "dinners" which had meat in with veggies/pasta. Those didn't seems as disgusting, but obviously at that point it was stage 3 stuff.

You're defnitely not the only one. I never gave Ava meat until she was old enough to chew it. It really isn't necessary any sooner than that (if at all... Ava has never been much of a meat eater and tells me that "chickens are family" so we just make sure she gets protein from other sources, which her pedi is fine with).

Another option would be do to very soft meat through a food mill. We would give Nicholas an entire pot roast dinner via the food mill. If you have very tender roast or something put it in w/ some of the soft cooked potatoes and carrots and some of the juice/gravy from the roast. Mill it together and its like a thick puree...it still looks kind of gross but at least you know exactly what she is getting and Nicholas LOVED meat that way...we did our whole thanksgiving dinner in the food mill, christmas dinner meats, etc.

Ditto, this is what we did for Ethan. Any meat in the regular grocery section freaks me out. Canned chicken, or those meats in pouches or whatever... no thank you!!
