when to do baby classes?

I have a list that my hosp does but it does not say when you should do them.  Anyone know?  For those of you who already have kids is it really worth it?  HELP! lol

  • The booklet for my classes say that you should do them in your last 3-4 months of pregnancy. However, you may want to register soon, in case they fill up fast.

  • I would say to take them a couple months before your due date, in case you deliver early.

DH and I took the class that our hospt offers for an all day Saturday class. It was better for us since DH travels and there was no guarantee that he could make a class one night a week for 6 weeks. The class was fun. Some of the stuff you learn seems elementary but it really is a nice educational class. Even just learning breathing techniques, what your DH can help with in the delivery room, what to expect the first days at home and how to care for you newborn. Plus we got a tour of the hospital and a meal was included.

  • I called and scheduled mine yesterday.  She put me in the beginning of June and Beginning of July for my family hospital tour.  I do prenatal teaching at my office and encourage my patients to call as soon as they finish their 1st trimester to book, because our classes(and im sure most places do)fill early.

  • We took ours in early March, and DS was due in mid-May.  He ended up being born at the end of April.  It was great timing for us.  They also offered us two full Saturdays instead of the weekly evening classes.  That was wonderful.
  • I scheduled mine today. I'm taking them in June. My hospital offers 3 classes. Expectant mother class, breast feeding class, and taking care of a newborn (with emergency techniques in it)

I'm so upset though cause Hubby can't make any of the classes. My mother will be my birthing coach lol.
