I am about to pull my hair out with naps... I seriously exhaust all energy I have trying to get DS to nap. Before, he was doing awesome. He'd usually take a good 1 hr morning nap then around lunch time he'd have his feeding and go down for 3ish hours, sometimes almost 4....well now, as of the last couple weeks it's like a royal fight to get him to sleep during the day and I worry b/c he'll yawn and yawn and yawn but not sleep...and he's getting himself overtired and fussy in the process. Anyone have any tips/advice/ideas how we can make naptime a little easier on the little guy and myself?? I've noticed if I let him nap in my bed he sleeps much better but I've really been trying to work on crib naps b/c I don't want him too used to sleeping in our bed. He sleeps in his crib at night but for some reason naps are a huge issue....

Re: Anyone elses almost 3mth old have hard time NAPPING!?
sammmmme thing is happening to me (LO is comfort suckling and I'm praying he sleeps from this as I type)...I've noticed he naps better when swaddled (previously he would sleep well swaddled or not)....try that maybe?
Same thing going on at my house, except for some reason he has been asleep for the last 2.5 hours. For the past week he has only been taking 30-45 min naps. I even tried letting him nap in his swing this morning but still only got 45 min out of him. When he wakes up he is all smiles and will not go back to sleep. I was considering getting black out curtains for his room to see if that helps. He is starting daycare in 2 weeks and they don't black out the room for naps so I don't want to get him use to only sleeping in the dark.
Our DD (almost 12 weeks) is doing this, too! Lately she SCREAMS when overtired and forced to undergo the oh so torturous process of "soothing"...! (Of course, after 5 minutes of crying in our arms, she's out for 30-45 minutes.)
Luckily, like your LO, she does sleep well at night, so I only have to deal with this sudden fussiness during the day.
Good luck! I wish I had some advice for you...
For the most part I am super lucky, My LO naps for hours throughout the day and then goes down with no fight in his crib at night. However, for each nap (he gets overtired and cries after each hour of being up on the dot) I must do the 5 S's.....shhh, swaddle, side, etc (I jiggle him a bit) and he only sleeps in his lamb chair since it vibrates during the day (but fine in the crib at night). The problem with it is that I have to rush home after only being out an hour (if that) unless I am at someone's house or a place where I can go through the lengthly routine of getting him down because he will not sleep in his stroller or car seat anymore (he is way alert when out and can't soothe himself) My pedi says he will learn eventually to fall asleep anywhere again once he is not as overwhelmed with all the new sights and sounds. So,I would say try the whole routine of shhh, swaddle, bouncy and white noise in his fave comfy sleeping place with the lights out and you will get long naps....I can't believe how much my LO sleeps!
