Contractions ?

Sooo, I know there have been posts about this before, but those of you who experienced contractions would you describe them to me. I have contractions off and on, but I know they are not the real thing. I am just wondering what to expect when it is the real deal. What were your experiences?

Hopefully I will experience them soon!!! This baby does NOT want to come out though!! LOL

Re: Contractions ?

  • Granted, mine were pitocin contractions, but I couldn't talk through them. I kinda froze and had to zone out until it was over. It was like someone pulled a drawstring on my belly and having the worst AF cramp of your life at the same time.

  • I didn't go into labor on my own with dd, so I am not much help. Other people have told me though that real contractions are felt in more places than just your belly. I have heard they wrap around your back and sort of take your breath away. My ob said I would know when they are real because they don't go away and keep getting stronger.

  • The feel like the worst diarrhea/constipation cramps ever.  I know everyone says AF cramps, but honestly even though I had bad period cramps, they weren't like that.

  • very very very strong menstraul cramps...definitely can't talk through them nor have people talk to you. They really make you want to hit something and scream at the same time. not fun! you'll know when it's the real thing!

  • I had an NST today and apparently was having 'strong' (according to the nurse) contractions every three-four minutes, but they didn't feel strong to me. They felt like the baby was pushing out on my ribs and down on my pelvis at the same time... and kind of impaired my breathing. And they make my tummy super hard.

Obviously I'm at home now, but the 'contractions' have continued. They told me to keep monitoring them, but I feel like they are going to have to hurt a lot more than this to get me to the hospital. We will see.
