Anyone have a protector that they put under the car seat and/or one that goes on the back of the seat in front of the kids where they kick? I want to get some but haven't loked at them before and wasn't sure if someone had a rec.
We have one under our car seat to protect our leather, but I looked for it at BRU, and I can't find it - so they must no longer sell ours. it's nothing special - just a gray, rubberized pad thing - works fine.

This is what we have! But BRU doesn't sell them anymore. Not sure why. We have one for each car and I like them alot. They are thicker than the other ones I have seen. The back part also comes off so when you go to facing forward you dont have to have that part anymore.
just an fyi, the ones under the seat aren't really approved by the car seat manufacturers because they're after market items. I've had my seats on leather in two cars and it hasn't messed them up.

Yep. They also void the warranties on the seats.

Void warranties, as in if the carseat fails in a wreck, you can't fault the manufacturer if you used a protector? What about the instructions of putting a rolled "towel" or pool noodle under it to try to level off when you RF? That seems to be something that is not "approved", yet, I think I have seen that in the instructions (maybe it was the infant seat)? Our carseat actually slid around on our leather seats in one of our cars, so originally, we got the protector to give it some "grip" to hold on, so we could torque it down properly. That is interesting they are saying that it is "bad", since I felt more comfortable with it, than w/o it.
This is interesting. I may have to re-consider using it, then - we don't have that car anymore, so it wouldn't necessarily bother me not to have it. I do need to check to see if the towel thing voids anything, though, as we are using that since we still RF and use it.

Yes. And also having it under the seat can cause the seat to perform worse in a crash, even if it seems tight.
The noodle/rolled towel thing I believe is approved. They did that when I had DD's infant seat installed, but wouldn't use a seat protector.

The noodle/towel does not void a Britax warranty, as they show it being used in their installation videos

Cosco is the same. They suggest it to get the proper angle. As long as it's in the manual/instructions then it's ok.
Re: Carseat Protectors
We bought this one from Target.

It works pretty well and I actually like the little pockets since we still let C have his paci in the car on long trips. I keep a few in there.
