made the mistake of googling this one - woah! after seeing the "give your baby cow milk or juice," I came to my senses and came here instead.
DS was averaging about 14oz a day, then around 6-7mo he had a few 18oz days. He's now 8.5mo old and for the last couple of weeks has been taking very little during the day. I'm talking 4-6oz a day total! He still nurses in the morning, before bed and several times a night. But he was doing that before and was taking in a lot more BM.
He's loving solids but having him eat less solids does not make him want to drink more BM.
He's also teething like crazy. I seem to remember the 16-24oz a day rule but is that for one-year olds? I am not so worried about his total intake, just wondering what other babies this age are taking in (during the day as well as total per 24hrs). He's about 20lbs, so I'm not worried about him being underweight; and he's crawling, pulling up, practically crusing, so he's hitting the developmental milestones well, too.
He's not taking in much water, I've been trying to get him to drink from a straw, it took DD 2 hours to learn, we are going on weeks and he's still not really there. I bought new straw cups with thicker straws and am hoping they'll do the trick!
Re: how much BM is your 8-9mo taking?
Sofya!! He is reverse cycling. He's getting all his BM with you. Check out this link:

Also, here's a link to the kellymom milk calculator:

Also, it took K a long time to understand the straw sippy cup - I think she was well over a year.
DD did that when I 1st went back to work but DS just loves to eat. He ate about 12oz today, so maybe he's going back up. I have also started giving him a bottle after I nurse at night b/c I can tell I don't have as much milk in the evenings as I used to or as I do earlier in the day.
