Bottle to sippy cup transition

When did you switch or when do you plan on changing from bottle to sippy cup for formula/milk?  DD uses sippy cup now for water.  This weekend I tried putting formula in the sippy cup and the look on her face was priceless.  She had the look on her face like WTH is this mom?  She would not drink her formula out of that cup, as soon as I put it in the bottle she took it right away.  I can tell this is not going to be an easy task.  Any helpful ideas?

  • My DD is home today with DH and I am having him give her BM in a sippy today for the first time. I'm waiting to hear how it went.

  • DS would never take BM from a sippy. We just stopped the bottle cold turkey shortly after a year. He only drinks water from his sippy - refuses all milk. Guess we'll try again when we wean.

  • We are using the Playtex "no drip" sippy cups.  DS didn't know what to do with it at first, so I took out the rubber flow guard under the cap.  It made a mess, but he figured out how to drink from it after the first try.  Now he can use it with the rubber guard in place, but he still prefers the bottle.

  • DD has been taking a sippy cup since 7 months or so but with water only. We started have transitioned her to whole milk and are trying to wean her from the bottle now. She gets her sippy with water still but she does not seem to want to take milk from it. I was feeding her every 4 hours before with about 6 oz of formula and then 8 oz before bed. I have eliminated one of those feedings so now she gets milk when she wakes at 7 a.m. with breakfast and then again around 2 before her nap and then at night. I have not weaned the bottle from the nap and night time because i know it is such a comfort thing for her but I need to do it. I guess I am nervous because I feel like with #2 coming soon, she may revert back. I see the pediatrician next week so I am going to talk to him about it. However, some people told me to designate a sippy for water and then have a special one for milk. Some also have suggested putting water in her bottle and milk in the sippy so she starts to just take the sippy. Good luck! I am having a hard time with it all.

  • DD won't drink out of a sippy. She chews on them mostly. She loves to drink out of my cup which I am sure has started a terrible habit. We use Dr Brown's trainer cup because it drips a bit without sucking and she can't chew because it is a hard spout. She only gets water in it right now. Until she gets better I am sure she won't take formula from it.
