Re: Bed-Rest Mamas Daily Check-In ~ MONDAY ~

  • Update - Its been a quiet week, although I am silently very nervous about having to go another week before my next appointment.  Ack! Also - the next appointment decides whether or not I go back to work.  But after one "active" day at home - which wasn't even that much, my last appt showed me funneling, but no dynamic changes, so continue what I'm doing - I can only imagine 4-8+ hrs on my feet will NOT end well, and I'd like to make it as full term as I possibly can.  So I hope they'll just keep me out the rest of the pregnancy.

QOTD - I got married this past June - my wedding dress is still hanging up in my closet.  I just haven't gotten around to getting it dry cleaned (It got super dirty after I ditched my 3" heels!), and preserved.  I loved my dress, and def. want to keep it!

  • QOTD: Four years later it is still hanging in the garment bag in my closet at my parents'.  One day I will do something with it.

UPDATES: Just trying to make it to my 1pm appointment.  I had a terrible weekend and feel just as crummy today...my torso is so tight I don't even have an appetite, and my urine out put (doing a 24 hour-sorry if TMI) seems to be a lot less than normal considering I am drinking 100 ounces of water a day.  This is about the time I started to shut down with DD, so I am wondering if it is just my body telling me I suck and that it is almost done.

  • QOTD:  I got married in 2007.  I did clean my dress right away and had it preserved.  So it sits in a box under the bed in our guest bedroom.  I'm not really sure what I think I want to do with it but wanted options.

Update:  Not much here.  Next NST is tomorrow.  We got 9 inches of snow yesterday with no plowing so it is fun here.

ColieM - Congrats!  You give me so much hope!

  • QOTD- I bought my dress used off Ebay. After the wedding, I just hung it in my guest room closet in a garment bag. I store all types of sentimental things so this falls into that category but I'm not sure what the ultimate destination for the dress will be. When I was a kid/teenager my mom let me wear her wedding dress (my parents divorced way before that).  I wore it for Halloween, Renissance festival, etc! lol.  I'm not sure if I will let my kid do that though.

Update- Bro in Law is visiting from Canada for a week which is awesome becacuse I have someone to hang out with at home!

  • If you are married, what have you done with your wedding gown? Do you still have it? If you will be getting married, what will you do with it after that day?

I got married last year in March. As of right now, it's in a garment bag in storage. I didn't get it cleaned or anything. The day I got married, we had a nor'easter that was ridiculous!!! We lost power, a tree fell on my BIL's car, I broke out in hives, found a bug in my breakfast, FIL had a nervous breakdown, misplaced our marriage license and the night before my grandfather passed. After all that happened, my dress ended up wet and muddy and I just didn't care. The last time I looked at it though, it showed me all we'd go through to be together.

     Updates!

Nothing. Have an appt. Wednesday for a NST. Thursday is my bday, my last cervical and I'll hit 32 weeks!! Yay!

If you are married, what have you done with your wedding gown? Do you still have it? If you will be getting married, what will you do with it after that day?

DH and I had a small courthouse wedding. I wore a white cocktail dress, and it's hanging in our closet. We're having a big party in the fall, and I plan on a "real" wedding dress at that time. I plan on having it preserved and will probably store it away somewhere for safe keeping.

Updates to share: This bedrest thing seems to be working fairly well. My BP has only spiked a few times, and the swelling had reduced enough to where I can open my eyes all the way. I've lost 1 lb, which I assume is fluid. I'm upset about being out of work (unpaid) for so long, but I know it's what I need to do for myself and LO.

  • Qotd- My wedding dress is still in the garment bag keep forgetting to take it to the dry cleaner and find one i trust to do it. Wedding was may 2009. so yeah i guess im procrastinating.

Update- Drs appt on wednesday. going back to my house tonight from being at my moms house for a week. yay!!! but now im going to be tempted to get up and do things that im not suppsed to do

  • QOTD: A few weeks after the wedding, my mother paid to have it dry-cleaned and put into a sealed box.  She paid something like 250 dollars to have it done.  It will stay white and shiny for years to come in the box (avoiding yellowing), but I have been tempted more than once to unbox it and dance around the house in it.  I guess I will resist the temptation for another several years until the girls want to dance around in it.

Update: The power went out last night due to an ice storm.  It was really cold out from under the covers!

  • My H and I married in 2004 for which I wore a sleeveless, boatneck gown with pale pink beading. A few weeks afterward, I had it preserved. I have hopes that one of my daughters will one day want to wear it. Other than that, I have no desire to give it away.

Nothing news worthy to report right now. Just waiting until my next appointment to see what's up with these increased uterus disturbances.

  • Update - not much new going on.  Just hanging out at home. DH is home today since Madeleine was off school for President's Day.  We put the swing together and now M is playing Dr. with me while DH is at the grocery.  I have my appointment today in 2hrs so we will see where we are at then.

QOTD: I am bad and my wedding dress is still hanging in the original bag in my closet at my parents house. I never even had it cleaned after the wedding.  I think I am going to try and sell it on CL.

  • QOTD: We were married in Oct 08 and I'm embarrassed to say that my dress is still dirty from our wedding night and hanging at my MILs house. I have no idea what to do with it. Someday maybe I'll put it on again and drink some wine and remember how much I loved being a bride. lol

UPDATES: Nothing really, I have twice daily NSTs here at the hospital now. So far, baby Smurfette has been a rockstar on them. Got two betamethasone shots and had the negative FFN test on Friday which was fantastic! My doc says that as long my weekly u/s keeps looking ok and I stay stable we can talk about going home on bedrest at 26 weeks-ish. Honestly, I've been here so long now that the thought of going home is beyond exciting and terrifying at the same time.

I didn't have a wedding gown.  My husband and I went to the court house in jeans and were married in the bounced check courtroom.  We took the husband of one neighbor and the wife of another and one said "woops we just got married instead of you two!  We signed the wrong lines."  He was joking of course but it made everyone laugh, even the judge.

Update:  I will have my last ultrasound on Thursday to check on the growth of Dakota.  Here is hoping for another 16 days until I am 34 weeks Big Smile

Thursday is my bday, my last cervical and I'll hit 32 weeks!! Yay!

Thursday is my birthday too!!  What a great day it'll be...in bed!  I'll be 27, you?

QOTD:  My wedding dress made it to the cleaners after the wedding and has been in a garment bag in the extra bedroom since 2007 (we've moved 3 times since the wedding, but it always ends up in the guest room!)

I read somewhere that someone had turned their wedding dress into a christening gown for their baby and I thought that would be a good idea, because then the dress would "live on" and not just be stuck in the closet.  I mentioned this to my mom and she suggested that she do that with her wedding dress, as it's been played in, worn for halloween etc.  I think I'll take her up on this, so that my kids can play in my dress like I did in my moms.  I think it is kinda silly to just leave it in the garment bag for the rest of its life.

I also think it would be fun to have a "wedding dress party" with friends.  Make our hubbies wear a tie, we can all wear our dresses and have a dinner party.  Call me a goof, but I love a good theme party!

Updates:  My girlfriend has since gone back home to Alabama, and my mom flew in from Colorado yesterday.  I must say, that being on bed rest not in our own home, I've had lots of entertainment!  I've had my husband for a week, my friend for a week, and will have my mom for a week, then DH will be officially moved here.  After that, he starts a training course and I'm sure the boredom will set in while I'm home by myself all day!

    Have a Happy Monday!

  • I totally understand the feeling of wanting to go home.  I am counting the days!  19 more days (including c-section recovery time) I will finally be at home.  Hopefully my bed and couch are as comfortable as I remember!  It will be almost 10 weeks that I have been away at that point.  I will keep my fingers crossed for you christykell!

I'll be 29. Are you doing anything special? Other than my doctor's appt., I'll be in bed all day too. Although no more cervicals is a nice gift!! Normally though, my H and I do something special since my bday, our anniversary (We got married the day we went on our first date) and his bday are in the next 3 weeks.

The place I got my dress did free preserving, so I have it preserved along with my purse and shoes.  It has been sitting in my basement since January 2007, ha ha.  Not sure what I will ever do with it, and I probably would not have preserved it had that not not been paid for.  I have no thoughts of any of my children ever wearing it.  Guess it will just take up space until I figure it out!

  • Updates: I've signed up for 2 clinical trials while I'm here at the hospital. As a pharmacy major who relies on primary literature and clinical trials, I'm pretty excited about it. The first is a study looking for biochemical markers in the blood of pre-eclamptic pregnant women to see if a screening test can be developed in the future to determine a woman's risk of getting pre-eclampsia after becoming pregnant. Not too much is involved, just an extra vial of blood to be taken when my regular labs are drawn (Mondays and Thursdays), plus a urine sample twice a week. The second trial is regarding reducing infections rates in women who get C-sections. Some women in the trial will receive Cephalexin and Metronidazole three times a day post-C-section for a few days while others will receive placebo. This will hopefully see if the extra antibiotics reduce infection rates. If I end up delivering vaginally, obviously this trial won't matter, but it would be nice to help other C-section mamas if I end up needing one.

So far, I'm still stable. My BPs are high and sometimes spike really high, but they're staying approximately the same for now. The boys are still doing good, although Baby A didn't want to show us his breathing exercises this morning during the BPP. Mostly, I'm getting tired of putting on this happy front for everyone. I'm really depressed about needing to stay in the hospital and it's really wearing me down. I want to go home so badly, I hate being here. I'm not sure how much more I'm going to be able to take!

QOTD: If you are married, what have you done with your wedding gown? Do you still have it? If you will be getting married, what will you do with it after that day? Right now, my dress is in my best friend's apartment. I don't really know what to do with it. I'm looking into seeing if we can get Christening gowns made out of it for the boys. But we'll see, I really have no intention of doing anything special with it or keeping it for posterity.

  • Update:  Nothing new really.  I am still trying to get them to let me to go home by the end of the week.  I was set up to work remotely on Friday but I have been procrastinating working until today.  I probably should have worked over the weekend because it made the day go a lot faster.

QOTD:  I left my wedding dress at my parents house after the wedding and my mom had it put in one of those preservation boxes.  I haven't seen it seen.

edit: just kidding...rechecked the forecast and now we're looking at isolated thunderstorms...maybe we'll get out for a bit, we'll see!

Nothing special...it's supposed to be near 80 on Thurs, so my mom and I may spend the day in the back yard by the pool!  There are a number of steps to get out there, but there is a toilet in the pool house, so once I'm down there I can stay as long as I want (and my mom brings me food!)  I'm hoping she'll make my favorite for dinner... Meatloaf with cream cheese mashed potatoes and some kind of veggie!  Crab legs are prob my fave, but there will be no Red Lobster for this girl!

  • QOTD:  We got married in 1995 and I'm embarrassed to say that my dress is still hanging in the closet from right after the wedding and reception.  We were so broke when we got married that I never took the time to get it cleaned and preserved.  Oh well, looking at it now I would never re-pick it again, not my style anymore.

Updates:  I hope you ladies don't mind me still hanging around.  I would love to see everyones progress and birth stories as we get there.  I survived my first few days of non-bed rest activities.  The first evening I had some pretty painful contractions and I was wondering if it was gonna be time but they went away after a warm bath.  I'm sure I will be wishing it was time in the next couple of weeks.  I have my c-section scheduled for 3/14 and I'm thinking it would be so funny if I ended up making all the way to then after all.  These babies do what they want.  I'm happy to wait, as long as the baby is fine and healthy.
