My perinatal specialist gave me supplies to do a 24 hour urine test - the whole hat/jug thing. I have kind of a stupid question, since it's a Sunday and I can't call her office because they're closed. It seems that apparently I'm weird and have almost filled up the entire jug - I started at 8am this morning (after my fmu, as directed), but still have until 8am tomorrow to go. I don't think I'll have enough room in the jug... she seemed rather intent that they needed an entire 24 hour sample. Has anyone else had this problem? What do I do?
Re: Stupid question - 24 Urine Test
Sure.
Just look for a very clean container (either glass or plastic) within which to collect the extra in. Just be sure that if the container is transparent to protect it from light (one quick solution is to cover the entire container in aluminum foil) AND also like the other jug, keep it chilled in ice or the refrigerator.
But, yes. You have to collect it for the entire 24 hours.
Thanks so much - I knew I should have asked for another container because I'm currently drinking and peeing a whole lot. I'll do that then.
Same here! And I did my while in the hospital and they were pumping me full of fluids.

I honestly don't know how I'm not completely dehydrated all the time. I filled the jug and a 20 oz container, and I think from what I'm reading here, I'll have to do it again. I know it's super ghetto but the only container I had was a new bottle of selzer, so I dumped the selzer out and used that. It was for the last two pees (the one in the middle of the night and this morning). Not that having jugs of pee in my fridge makes me feel classy in the first place.
