I either want a white crib & dresser or a natural/oak color. It seems like the expresso color is very trendy and popular right now, but I just don't think it will go well in my house - I have oak trim & doors.
Since I am having a girl, a white crib & dresser would work, but I just can't decide on which set. I want a wide dresser that can also serve as an area to put a changing pad on. Tell me which kind you have and where you found it.
Re: White crib & dresser - what do you have?
I am looking at the Hemnes 8 drawer dresser from Ikea. Solid wood, only $299. And pairing it with the Gulliver crib, $99. I do NOT want a convertible crib which is why I chose the Gulliver. I will probably also add the Hemnes twin bed frame as well since the nursery will take away my guest room and I have a 2 BR condo.
Solid wood, nice looking, very reasonably priced.
I think the Hemnes dresses will go with any furniture actually and I plan to replace the knobs with some handpainted ones from Etsy.
I really like white in nurseries. Light wood is NMS though.
I tend to think Expresso is classic more than trendy. We have all expresso in our home so we decided to go with it in the nursery as well.
eta: I have heard complaints of white chipping though.

We have the Munire Urban. We got the crib, combo dresser, hutch and nightstand.
It's on it's 2nd kid and is in great shape!
We do have it in espresso, but I think it would look great in white too.
Crib: Davinci Kalani in white
Dresser: Ikea Hemnes 8 drawer dresser in white
Someone's getting a little brother!
we have this and LOVE it.
DD has been in her crib since week 4!
I hate to burst your bubble, but the Hemnes dresser is not solid wood. I was interested in it, but the product description on the Ikea website says it's made from:
Top panel: Particleboard, ABS plastic, Acrylic paint, FoilLeg/ Drawer bottom/ Support rail, front/ Side frame: Fiberboard, Acrylic paint
Side panel: Particleboard, Acrylic paint, Foil
Back: Fiberboard
Drawer front panel: Particleboard, Acrylic paint, Foil, ABS plastic
Drawer sides/ Drawer back/ Support rail, back/ Plinth back: Solid pine
Leg rail: Solid beech or birch
Supporting leg: Solid beech or birch, Acrylic paint
We have the Europa Baby Palisades Collection in White: https://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=4182667
You can see a few pics (although the nursery isn't complete) on my blog: https://thezookeepersjournal.blogspot.com/
Just ordered the Munrie Bristol in white. The best pure white furniture I could find.
Hemnes 8 drawer dresser, love it. I have a BabyMod crib from Walmart. The style I have is the Olivia and has the dark wood on the bottom, but they make other styles in all white.
I like this one:

DS has cherry furniture, so I want a different look for DC #2, regardless of whether it's a boy or a girl. I haven't done much research yet, but we will probably get a white dresser from IKEA (Hemnes?) and either the same crib DS has (Baby's Dream) in white or the Kendall crib from PBK in white.
We have the Cocoon 1000 in vanilla for DD#1and have loved it.
We just got the Munire Bristol set in white this weekend for DD#2 and love it too! I am a huge fan of white furniture for little girls.

We went back and forth between a honey/oak/maple or white for a long time and funny enough landed on Espresso (it goes with the most color combination for our room).
We are doing the Graco Lauren Crib in Espresso (mainly because it is sturdy and the color was easy to match with other brands) and the Storkcraft Beatrice Combo Dresser for the changing pad / dressing area.
We got the Ma Marie by Stanley (you can buy it on www.laylagrace.com)
And it's espresso, not expresso.
