Baby Names

Juliet Grace or Juliet Helen

Alright ladies...

I have two girl's names picked out. The first is pretty set in stone - Lydia Louise. Lydia because I like it and Louise after my grandmother Emma Louise who went by Louise.

The second name I like it Juliet, but I am stuck on her middle name. It was always going to be Grace after my other grandmother Helen Grace who went by Grace. But, now that Grace has become so popular, I am thinking of Juliet Helen instead.

FWIW, my grandmother did not like the name Helen, which is why she went by Grace and completely dropped Helen from her name when she got married.

Am I exempt from the "Grace as a filler name" conundrum if it honors my grandmother? Am I really honoring her if I choose Helen instead, even though she hated it?

These are the best of the names on that side of the family (think Effie and Estelle, yikes) so it's not like I can choose another way to honor her.

Thoughts?

Re: Juliet Grace or Juliet Helen

  • I like Grace. Plus, you're still honoring her by using the name she liked.

  • I like Estelle! (so take my opinions with a grain of salt)

I would go with Grace.  Helen is lovely but it doesn't flow as well with Juliet.  And I don't think Grace is a filler name if you are naming it after your grandmother.

I don't disagree, but my name is Michelle so that would be quite odd sounding to me and such a mouthful for poor Juliet. Smile

  • Juliet Helen is a bit of a mouthful... It might depend on your last name, but I like Juliet Grace better...

You can always say "I went with my grandmothers' middle names" if you think its too cliche.  But I love it!

  • juliet grace for sure!  but i also think juliet estelle is pretty too....

  • I think Grace sounds nice. I don't think its a filler especially since its a family name.

  • Juliet Grace is a GORGEOUS NAME.  (I was considering both Juliet and Grace as girl's names for a while. But DH wasn't the biggest fan of Juliet, and because our last name is a noun, and we would probably call her Gracie, we were afraid of kids calling her Greasy...I digress.)  I love Juliet Grace!
