Tonight I posted a picture of myself at 15 weeks, 2 days on FB (which I will probably post this week on HDBD) and got a comment from one of my friends about how she thinks I've changed in the week since she's seen me. I guess this would be the proverbial "popping" that everyone refers to. THEN this other girl (who is the nosiest freaking person ever and I would de-friend her if she didn't work in the school system with me) said something to the effect of, "Showing already!? Too cute." And it really, REALLY pis$ed me off for some reason. I guess it was her implication that at 15 weeks I shouldn't be showing. But who the he!l is she, anyway? What does she know? Grr....I am so fired up right now. Her comment just made me feel like a fat cow or something or like I was making it up and like, pushing my stomach out or something. So annoying!!!
So I guess my question is this: what is your body type (XS, S, M, L, XL)/bone structure and height? Do you feel like you're "showing" yet? Did you have a moment or a week where you felt like you popped? I just wanted to see what everyone else was experiencing.
I have a medium/large frame and I'm short (5'3") with a short torso. Not much room for things to go, really!
Re: on the subject of "showing" (somewhat vent-y)

I just posted about being too bloated.
But too my surprise most of the girls said it looks more like a bump!
I'm only 13 weeks!!
theres a few photos of my belly in that post
I'm medium size, I was a size 8 before I got pg and I'm really short : 5'2
Hope this helps!
I'm sure you look adorable. You should post the picture here. You can't just post this and make us wait for HDBD!!!
I'm a size 8 pre-pregnancy. This is my second baby and I started showing about a week after I could turn a pee stick positive.
I wouldn't take her comment that badly... I know a lot of people who didn't "pop" with their first one until closer to 20 weeks. I'll bet she really didn't think that comment would offend you.
To answer your other questions, I am about 5'8", 120lbs pre-pregnancy, with really small bone structure. I didn't really start to show until 18 or so weeks with DS, and NEVER really got very big in the belly (despite my 35lb weight gain) - I carried really low and far back. It looked like I was about 28-30 weeks along when I delivered at 38 weeks - even though DS was 7lbs 4oz. THIS time around, the belly popped out nice and early at 13 weeks. It seems to remember what to do, lol
I think that I'll carry this one a lot differently, considering how much larger I already am than the last time around (even though weight is no different - the belly sure is!). I hope that helps...
Our Family Blog.
I have a medium body frame and 5'4" with a short torso also. I feel freaking huge already. I mean, I am so big already I can't see my damn feet. I guess its because I didn't REALLY start showing with my son until 6-7 months along. I haven't posted a bump pic in a while becuase i always seem to mis HDBD. I will try not to miss it this time. or if I do I will post a pic at a later time so you can see what i mean about feeling huge.
Agreed...I wouldn't be offended by that comment. At 15 weeks, you might be "popping" a bit early for your first pregnancy and that's probably all she meant. When we talked to the nurse at my RE's office, she told us I would probably start to show at about 12-14 weeks for a twin pregnancy and that it would be a few weeks later for a singleton. Sure enough, I started showing at about 14 weeks with twins. Pre-pregnancy, I was about a size 6 and was about 5' 5". My friend at school (who is about my size) did not start to show until about week 17 or 18 with a singleton.
You're right, Jellie. I won't do that to you guys. I will post it here.
And thanks for your input, girls. You're right that she probably didn't mean it offensively but I think with her history of nosiness and saying weird things it just rubbed me the wrong way. You know!?
I suppose maybe some of it is bloat because it doesn't really feel
"hard" per se but it definitely doesn't go away when I try to suck it in.
Oh, well. It is what it is. I need to be less sensitive!
Here it is:
You are TOO cute!
You know what else I was thinking about? According to my own calculations and probable O date, I should be about a week ahead of what the picture says I am. When I went for my first ultrasound the tech said the LO was measuring small so she moved my date back a week. I wonder if that could have something to do with it? Maybe the LO is farther along than she thought? Something to think about.
Thanks for listening to me! Sorry to be such an AW tonight! hehe
I know what you mean about people like this- drives me crazy! You look great!
I have had people telling me the same thing since about 1.5 weeks ago. I didn't like it at first but now I am embracing it. Also I can see the inside of my belly button for the first time ever - so that's something right?
Your picture is adorable....
My Blog
I'm 5'1 and was a size 4 pre-pregnancy and i feel like i completely popped in a matter of two days in week 15. Since that time, it hasn't gone away and just seems to get bigger - which, while i'm thrilled to have a bump, i sometimes wonder what the heck it means for me at 40 weeks.
As PP all said, you look great - it was probably a comment that just didn't come off right but was probably meant sincerely.
Emeraldjil your baby bump is adorable. You are absolutely glowing. Don't worry about comments people make on your FB especially if they aren't your close friends! The girl who made the comment reminds me of one of my co-workers she tries to compliment with a dig thrown in. Boooooooo to them for being jealous!
I am 5'3" pre-pregnancy weight was 133 and I wear between a 6 and an 8. Most of my clothes still fit me but are definitely getting snug. As a matter of fact I cleaned out my drawers and closet this weekend and sent two huge bags to good will. Right now it looks like I have just gained weight! Come on baby bump hurry and get here! So far I've gained about 7lbs. Not sure how on track I am with my weight gain.
Happy Monday Everyone!
You look great! I'm also 5'3" and am showing about as much as you are. Since we're shorter there's nowhere for everything to go but out!
I think people are trying to think of things to say and don't really think how sensitive we might be and/or how they'll come off. I had one friend say, 'You're going to get fat!!' (just what i want to hear) and another say, 'Wow, this week you've really grown, last week you just looked like you ate a big lunch!' LOL -- I try to take it all with a grain of salt (when my hormones are not raging, that is).
My body is XS/S with a 5'4" frame. I weighed 135ish (a healthy weight) when we started our IVF process back in November. I got to 140 (thanks to the meds and bloat), and have dropped over 20 pounds since then (thanks to my daily porcelain praying). I'm to the point now that all my pants fall down, which is annoying since I have a belly... A friend gave me the belly bands this weekend -- I need to try those!
I feel like I popped between 15.5-16 weeks. I just looked down one night and was like, "wow, I have a belly!" However, I'm carrying twins.
I will say that we went to a family party this weekend, and if you didn't know I was pregnant, I'm not sure you would be able to tell. But, people we see often have really noticed!
Aww you look adorable!
I "popped" in the last few days, too. I am 5'3 and a size 2 pre-pregnancy, with a super short torso. This kid has nowhere to go but out. My cousin on the other hand, didn't pop until 21 weeks and has a nice looong torso. She's also pointed out that my baby bump is way bigger than hers was at 16 weeks. Thanks, cuz!
Aww, you look very cute! I think you look appropriate for your frame and how far along you are. I would not look at you and think "wow, she's really showing early." Your overzealous co-worker probably doesn't even realize that what she said offended you. Don't let it get to you...you look great!
I'm 5'6 and about 110 pre-pregnancy weight (size XS/0) and people have been telling me all along that I probably won't show until late because I'm small. But that doesn't make much sense to me ...
My husband and I can see a bump, but I'm sure it's not something anyone else would guess is pregnancy yet ... they probably think I ate too much on vacation last week
I'm using the bella band w/pretty much all my jeans, so something is definitely going on down there!
