Baby swim class

I'm so excited, Raz starts his baby swim class in a few weeks. They are one of the supporters of my Natural parenting group and I know some moms who did it. We just signed up for it. DH and I both get to get in the water with DS and do it as a family. The moms who did it say it is very gentle and some of the best times they have had so far. Has anyone done something like this with a baby under 1?

  • we started taking older dd swimming around 6 months, it's fun!  We've done classes too and she enjoys the singing and splashing.

  • We started swim classes with DD when she turned 6 months. (The minimum age our Y allows.) She has a blast and loves the water. She's by far the youngest in the class, but is the most comfortable in the water.

  • We didn't do official swim lessons, but since we live in FL Carter was swimming a lot before he turned one and always has been great in the water.  Casey has been in the water a couple of times and I'm sure will be in a ton this summer.

  • We did a 10 week class when LO was 6months old.

It was fun and relaxed, and it gave us some really good water safety tips that we can always use with LO everytime we're near/in water.

We haven't signed up for another class, but we regularly take her swimming and incorporate the ideas we learnt in that class.

  • i had ds in swim classes at 9 mos.  for the most part he liked it.  the biggest problem was the water was too cold for him.  so sometimes he screamed but other than that it was fantastic.
