Postpartum Depression

Anyone on Cipralex?

I started Cipralex last week, and I am absolutely exhausted on it- my question is will this side effect go away with time, because I cannot function on it.  LO is 8 months old and a real handful and I just can't look after her properly while on this med...

I am still nursing and I am wondering what other people are taking if they are nursing?  My issue is anxiety not depression. So I am looking to find something that keeps me calm and awake!

Re: Anyone on Cipralex?

  • Yep, I'm on Cipralex (they call it Lexapro in the States). It's never made me drowsy, a bit loopy the first couple of days though. That side effect should fade with time and if not discuss it with your physician. Paxil is another SSRI (anti-depressant) that has anxiolytic properties. You could try it if the Cipralex doesn't work out. Paxil made my sleep all f'ed up though! I'd give the Cipralex a good few weeks before switching though. Good luck!

  • My Celexa (very similiar) made me exhausted the first few months honestly but now it is def starting to go away. Good luck
  • I take Cipralex - any side effects I had were gone after 3-4 weeks.  I had some fatigue, but not more than I felt as a result of my anxiety disorder.  It has definitely been worth it, I've been on it over a year and have had excellent results. I'm hoping it will help me avoid PPD as I just gave birth two weeks ago.
