Repost from 2nd Tri-Need advice on excersize while pg

I have been slacking on my workouts. Pre-pregnancy, I either went spinning 4-6 times a week or alternated with with running on the beach or boardwalk (spring, Summer, Fall). Also, used weights and kettlebells although wasn't very consistent unless we had something coming up or it was Summer. Now I spin 2-4 times a week. That's it. I tried to run on the boardwalk yesterday and was so winded. I am started to feel softer, and have had no will power against the girl scout cookies in the cabinet, lol.

Any advice for getting motivated?

Also what is your routine and what works for you? I need incorporate light weights, I know. I bought Shiva Rea pre-natal yoga and intend to try that, too. I really just want to feel good during pregnancy. I am afraid to gain weight all over, too :0 Thanks ladies!!!

  • I've always been a jogger but during my pregnancy I just couldn't. First trimester I felt sick, then it just didn't feel good. But i kept up walking and using the elyptical and it helped greatly--especially toward the end. Relieved pain and anxiety.

    It didn't really help with my delivery (I ended up having labor-inudeced hyptertension and had to have a c-section) BUT it staying fit helped dramatically during recovery. I'd say I felt pretty good 2 weeks after delivery. I had to ease back in, but 8 weeks out i am now back to jogging and working up to my pre-pregnancy distance. GL!

  • I continued running daily for 8 miles, longer in the weekends, and doing abs and weights. With DD I ran 6 miles the day before I delivered (at exactly 40 weeks). I am planning to do the same with this baby. So far so good.
