If you have a cool mist humidifier, what do you put in on?

I just started using one yesterday for DD.  She is sick.  All we have in her room is her dresser, a round wooden table, her crib and nursery chair.  The humidifier reads not to put in on top of wood, carpet or a towel or anything metallic.  What do you set yours on top of if you use one in DC's room?

  • Weird that there aren't many options.  I put a baking sheet on top of DD's table top and then set the humidifier on top of that.  But the baking sheet is metal so now I need to find something else.  Ugh.

  • I obviously didn't read the instructions because ours is on the floor. And it has already spilled once but I don't see any other options.
  • I have been putting ours directly on the hardwood, so Oops! I was thinking maybe it would work if you had a cutting board made of plastic or silicone?? They you can set it on top of that and place it wherever you'd prefer.
  • We use one. I didn't see in the directions where it says not to put it on carpet. It just said to keep it at a distance from the wall. So, it's on the floor.

  • Ours reads you can't put it on carpet or the towel because the vent is on the bottom and the fabric can restrict the airflow and cause overheating.

I like your idea of a plastic or silicone cutting board.  I'm going to try that.  Thankyou for sharing your idea!!

  • Right now.. on the box it came in, but I plan on just picking up an inexpensive stool to put it on.

  • That's a great idea!  I can store it in DD's closet and get use out of it...then roll it out when I need to use the humidifier.  I'm going to do this...thank you!
