Parenting after 35

RE

We had consult with the RE. A huge difference between her & the RE I used previuosly. She has a staff of 4. They had probably at least a hundred between a few of their locations. Her office/building could use major updating. They were state of the art. Her parking sucks. They had plenty. A PITA to get to & will probably hit NYC traffic some days. Ugh.

BUT she hit on a few things that really bother me. I had sent her my records for my 4 IUI's & 2 IVF's. She said first off the OB/GYN had no business putting you on clomid. You do not have polycystic ovarian disease or any other health condition that you needed to take it for. AND your RE should have never proceeded to do a transfer for your first cycle when you had 1 egg, which was 40% fragmented. That's something that bothered me back then when they did it. Like why? Just because I happen to be in the OR already & you need more money for your kids college tuition? I still remember him saying it;s not a good chance at all, but you never know.

My friend who is using this RE had her last cycle canceled after the blastocyst did not look good. So I do believe this Dr. will look out for my best interest. The Dr. herself also had IVF 3 times (1 successful) so she knows what it's like to be in the same position.

Bad note, she basically said I don't have a good chance if I use my own eggs. Donor would be best. I am not ready for that. I think we will try one cycle on our own. I at least hope DH is on board for that. So now just waiting for day 1.

Re: RE

  • Glad you like her and fingers crossed come day 1.

But what the heck could be wrong with your eggs? One of your eggs made Sienna?

My thoughts exactly, what has changed except that you're almost 2 years older? That can't make that much of a difference. I hope that your new doctor is not too "by the book", like the opposite of your first RE. Either extreme would not be ideal. Here's hoping cycle #1 will stick ***baby dust***

Appartently 2 years makes a big difference. Especially because in my previous cycles I was only producing like 5-6 ok follicles. Not every follicle produces an egg. Not every egg is perfect. Then when they put the egg & sperm together, some never divide & never make it to blastosis stage. :(

  • Well, at least she's straightforward!  I hope it works out, and quickly.  :)
