placenta in front - anyone else?

At my 12 week u/s, the tech told us my placenta was in the front and that might be why the doc couldn't find a heartbeat a few days earlier. Anyone else have this or have had with a previous pregnancy. I sure wish I could feel the baby move more consistently. I am 16 weeks to the day, today :)

  • My placenta is in front as well and the doctor told me that I may not feel anything until 20-22 weeks!  I am waiting patiently hoping that I feel something sooner, but also trying not to be disappointed.  I am also curious if the doctor will hear the heartbeat on Tuesday at my next appointment.  I am so impatient! :)

  • when I went for my ultrasound this week the tech said my placenta was covering my cervix...but than went on to tell me not to worry because it moves alot and still has time to move

  • Don't worry too much. This is my second pregnancy and I only feel movement a couple times a day at the most. You'll know the moment it is a true baby movement and nothing is a better feeling. Especially since it's not just gas. :)

Please do no feel behind.  I didn't feel DS for the first time until 18 weeks and even then I questioned it.  I didn't feel him and consistently know it was him until about 20 or 22 weeks.  Feeling movement as early as 14 weeks is pretty early for a first time mom.  Even now with my second pregnancy, I'm 15 weeks tomorrow and haven't felt a thing.

  • I also have anterior placenta and my doctor told me I wouldn't feel the baby move until 20-22 weeks either.  That's 9 more weeks, I almost cried! I did some research and it isn't a problem during delivery unless you need to have a c-section and then it can cause excess bleeding but that in a hospital they would be prepared to deal with that if that were to happen.  My doctor couldn't find the heartbeat at my appointment yesterday either so I got to have another ultrasound which is fine by me.  If I can see my baby at each appointment, which I have so far, I will be the happiest mommy around.  So try not to worry too much about the placenta being in the front, the only thing that is an issue according to my doctor is placenta previa and that can happen no matter which uterine wall the placenta attaches to.

I really don't think your behind at all? I haven't seen many first time moms on here that feel movement. I certainly haven't felt anything yet.

  • I had an anterior placenta with DD and I have one again with this one.  Sometimes it can mean not feeling the baby as early, but I could certainly feel DD kicking up a storm even with the placenta in front.
  • I was told that my placenta is in front. So far it hasn't made it hard to find the heartbeat, though my dr. expected it to. She also told me that because of that I might not feel the baby until a bit later than average. :(
