B has the flu w/a high fever (103.8 deg F) and I wanted to give him some homemade chicken soup (just stock brewed from chicken with no salt, no additives or anything). I had called his pedi and the nurse called me back and said no chicken soup but she seemed unsure. I was looking online and it looks like it's ok for kids 7-8mo or older? B is 9mo now...why would it not be ok? I asked the nurse and she said he's too young???

Re: ? about chicken soup
I don't see any reason why not, since he can have chicken...maybe she's assuming you're getting it out of a can loaded with sodium or something?
I've never tried feeding my dudes soup (the mess would be unbelievable lol) so you'll have to let me know how it goes.

i saw he was sick w/the flu in your other post
sorry!
i don't see what's wrong w/it...my guess is she was worried about the sodium? if it's homemade it should be just fine if he wants to eat it.
fyi brent said to go ahead and get him vaccinated for the flu when he gets better if he wasn't already vaccinated b/c they have been seeing several different strains going around lately at the hospital....

thanks for the input ladies
yeah, i didn't see why there was anything wrong with chicken soup either...i think she didn't understand what i was trying to say or something b/c i told her i was making it from scratch...she said something about choking and i said i wasn't gonna give him the meat...but she still said no but she said it with a lot of uncertainty--like she was asking me if it should be no, ie. "i don't know, i don't think so...no, right? i would say no". *shrug*
yeah, he got his 2nd flu shot on Monday and came down with the flu/fever sometime between Wednesday night/Thurs early morning. i wonder if it wasn't good timing b/c he had a cold when he got the shot but the dr said it would be ok...
