How am I supposed to go 12 hours

without eating tomorrow night? My mom is staying with us tomorrow night and is going to make me a huge breakfast at 11:30 and then I'm done eating/drinking until after the surgery. I woke up at 4:30 today starving and was trying to hold off eating to get ready for Monday. Yeah that didn't happen.

Re: How am I supposed to go 12 hours

  • I had a big meal and a dessert right before the "cut off" time. I think the nerves and excitement helped me keep from feeling too hungry. (or at least thinking about it.)

    Good Luck!

  • yikes I do not know! :)

I vote eat a lot all day (instead of a lot right at the end of the day)

I think Kathy has the right idea =)

I can't believe he's going to be here in a few short days.  Many congratulations to you, Maggie!!

  • Oh my goodness, Maggie!! He'll be here sooo soon!

I'm sorry you won't be able to eat prior to the surgery Sad For me, it was pretty easy. Abe and I ate brunch prior to my ultrasound on the morning he was born. That was around 11 o'clock, I think? And Grady wasn't born till 11:11 that night. Food was the last thing on my mind because I was amped to meet "BC"! I hope you'll have a similar lack of awareness to your hunger Wink After he was born, though, I was definitely ready for some food!

Oh I'll be doing that too. lol I just remember that I was starving by the time Aidan was born. I had scrambled eggs that morning and that was it until I got back from the NICU around 9 or 10.

  • I think it will be easier then you think. My water broke at 5am and I ate a little mcdonalds on the way to the hospital (because I knew they wouldn't let me eat at the hospital). DD was born 23 hours later and I still didn't have an appetite. I went >24 hours without eatting and I wasn't even hungry. It did hit me all the sudden though and I felt like I could eat a horse, lol.

Hopefully all the adrenaline will be going knowing that you're going to meet your LO. Big Smile

  • My water broke at 3pm and I hadn't eaten since noon.  Josie wasn't born until 7:45 the next morning.   I was so thirsty, that was the worst part, and all that they would let me have was ice chips.
