Babies: 0 - 3 Months

on our way to children's-positive thoughts please

DS was diagnosed with RSV this morning, we were sent home with an inhaler. He has only had 6 ozo all day & 5 of those we're before 8am. Now he is running a 101 fever, coughing to the point of being purple & vomiting. His respiratory rate is in 60s. He is only 12 weeks old & 10lbs. Pedi on call said to just give him Tylenol. We said screw that so now we are driving him to children's. I know I am not over reacting, right?

  • Definitly not over reacting. I took my LO into the ER after 12 hours of vomiting my whole family told me i should hold off and that i was over reacting, but we ended up having surgery the next day on his stomach. Moms always know best.

I wish you and your LO one luck. I hope everything is ok.

  • You are doing the right thing.  Hope it all goes well and you are back home tonight.

If you are over-reacting, then my response if I were in that situation would be considered psychotic.

    Good luck.

  • Defiantly not overreacting. If his oxygen levels are that low, they're going to want to monitor him. DD was in the hospital at five weeks with RSV and she didn't have a fever. Best of luck and wishing a fast recovery for your LO.
  • You are not overreacting at all.  Tons of positive thoughts to you and your LO.

  • Definitely not over reacting. My friend's baby was just in the hospital for 8 days with RSV. Her oxygen levels were so low that she couldn't breathe on her own, and would stop breathing when she fell asleep. So yes, get your baby to the hospital! I know I would.

  • please give us an update on how you are doing.  I wanted to say that we were in the hospital for 4 days a week and a half ago.  it was painfil to see him hooked up to the oxygen and monitors.  now we have made a full recovery.  babies are pretty resilient.

  • No way, you aren't over-reacting. In my opinion, there is no such thing as over reacting when it comes to the health of your baby. I would do the same thing as you.

I am sending you prayers and positive thoughts. Good Luck.
