Hi ladies,
I'm planning my post-baby workouts early since I'm tired of winter weather and can't wait to get back into working out and wearing regular clothes Obviously I will wait to begin working out after I get the all-clear from my doctor, especially since the baby is breech so it looks like I'll be having a c-section in about 2 weeks.
I've been running for a couple of years and ran in this pregnancy up until month 5 when I ran a 10 mile race. Unfortunately I got really busy at work/home so I never got back into it. After starting slow with couch to 5k I'm planning on running some 5 and 10ks this summer and run a 1/2 marathon Labor Day weekend. I also want to do something besides running so I'm getting the 30 day shred dvd. From what I've read you're supposed to do the program every day, is that correct? Has anyone else completed the program while running? I thought I could alternate running with the dvd but not sure how to balance it... oh, and doing all of this with a 2.5 year old and newborn, haha, obviously things will not go perfectly!
TIA!
Re: 30 day shred beginner/running question
Yes - The 30 Day Shred is every single day - no breaks. I started the Couch to 5K program 2 1/2 weeks ago. I shred everyday and do the running MWF. It's easily manageable since its only 50 minutes total.
If you are going to be doing some heavy running though, I'm sure you'd be fine with alternating days.
I'll be able to let you know in a couple weeks how this goes. I am 4 weeks PP, and have been back to running for 2 weeks now (only up to 4 miles though). I am waiting til 6 weeks before starting the Shred and upping the running (I have a half marathon May 1st!). I have tried the shred before when I was marathon training and it was too much for me. I really felt the Shred in my knees and since running is my first priority, I never made it past Level 1. I hope to have better luck this time around since I need to tone up my abs and lose the last 5 lbs of baby weight come racing season!
