Baby contraptions???

Funny, how these pint-size little beings can be so particular.  Not one of my children has preferred the same thing as the next.  Ava liked the swing.  Charlotte liked nothing (except breastfeeding 24/7).  Lila???  The carseat.

She seems to have a pretty easy going temperament, but I will admit that I spend a lot of time holding her and BWing just because putting her down anywhere else doesn't keep her happy for very long.  She does like the carseat, however, and it's the only place I can get her to nap other than in my arms.  I think she may like position because she's congested, but then again maybe it's just her preference.  The only problem (aside from me not being 100% comfortable with it) is that she likes to be rocked in it.  I don't have to do it continually, but there are plenty of times that I have to stop and start and stop and start again, kind of defeating the purpose of having somewhere to put her down.  Any recommendations?  I think I recall people talking about some sort of baby rocker that is out there, or are these just for toddlers?  Do they rock on their own?

This is a link to a frame that you can put a carseat in and  turn it into a swing.  It's from a Graco SnugRide but I assume you could find one for most carseat brands.  I haven't used one but I know a few people who like this product.

  • I saw something that others rec'd on there, the FP Rock'n'play.  I wish I'd known that existed when DD wouldn't sleep.
  • Hmm... I just googled that rock and play thing and it definitely looks like something I need to go check out.  I didn't spend much time in the baby stores this time around so I hadn't seen it before.

I was unsure of it, but decided to give it a try and I LOVE it. It is DS's favorite place to sleep.

I will have to remember that if we have another LO.  It looks like something that would have been a lifesaver for me in the beginning.

  • We've had the RnP for almost a week now and Serena naps in it and sleeps swaddled in it at night (She doesn't need swaddled in it during the day)  I had 5.5 hrs sleep last night!  So yes it works :)

  • If you are interested in the FP rock 'n play... I've been trying to sell one on craigslist and it's still available, if you don't want to pay full price.

We have this swing and used it with B.  It worked really well, and I think I replaced the batteries once or twice.  And if you recall, B loved his carseat so much that he slept in it way too long.

That being said, the RnP also looks really good!
