24m vs. 2T?

What is the difference between clothing sizes 24 months and 2T? I was looking at clothes the other day in Target, and held up the same shirt in a 24m size and a 2T, and they looked the same. Is there really any difference, or am I missing something? TIA!

Someone asked this yesterday about Carters specifically and there was like a 5/8' difference in size between the two. We barely fit in 12 mo yet so I don't have much input of my own.

Oh okay, thanks. My DD looks like she will still be wearing 18m for a while, but I was just wondering before I buy anything in either of those sizes for the future.

I wondered this myself, too. I was at target the other day and looked at the weight/height and it was exactly the same on both. So regarding the Circo brand, there is no difference.

I thought I heard someone say once, that 2t is a bit smaller in the pants, and 24 months is more accomadating for a diaper. Quite honestly, I do some mixing and matching, and buy separates in different sizes. Ds can wear 12 months in pants, because he has short legs, and fits into more 18 month stuff in shirts. He does have some 18-24 month things from Carters because I think they run kind of small.

Maybe different here in Canada, but 24 months is more like 18-24 mnths and 2T fits starting at 2.

2T is longer and maybe a tad slimmer. If you are buying for next year, remember that they will probably start potty training in size 2T. I would recommend that you don't buy pants that need to be zipped and snapped. I bought a bunch on clearance for DD and she never wears them. She wants to do everything herself and she can't zip and snap yet.

24m is 18-24 months, 2T is the next size up. that being said their isn't much of a difference in some brands.

We get a mixture of the two. But if I have a choice I usually go for the 24 months b/c DD is a little on the shorter size.

With that said, I've noticed in most cases that the difference is in the length (arm/pant) and 24 months have a bigger butt! But with some brands I swear there is like no difference.
