So let me just start off by saying...the last week and a half has been hell!!!! DD had an ear infection, Roesola, and a cough all in one week..I am sick as well with a horrible cold and DH hasnt had a night off in a week and a half!
But this am I took DD to her doctor to check on her ear and get a shoot for 18months...well the weather here is so nice today I let DD walk on the side walk into the doctors office...she loves to walk...then my bag begins to slip and I loosen my grab on DD's hand to get the falling bad and in the second DD hits the sidewalk face first!!! I was so studded I just stood there for a second....bang up her lip bad and cut her chin too...but she also chipped she front tooth in half
After talking her to the doctor and dentist, she is fine...but has to live with a chipped tooth...I feel so horrible! like I should have had a better hold of her!!! now my beautiful girl has a fang of a tooth
and a big lip
it took everything in me to keep it together all day so I wounldnt cry in front of the doctor...but i did as soon as I got home...its my fault, I should have caught her
Re: feeling like a horrible mother
Totally not your fault! You shouldn't feel bad. A couple days ago Curly fell and split his lip on the inside and scuffed it up on the outside and had blood gushing everywhere... and that's with BOTH of my hands free to catch him. It just happens sometimes. Don't beat yourself up too much.
And the good news is, that tooth isn't permanent, so it won't be a fang forever!
We ALL have those days/weeks. Sorry it's been a rough one for you and I hope it get's better.
DH had a "bad daddy" week. He's a SAHD and a full-time student. DS and I were both sick with some gross virus (thankfully, I had it worse than DS and he just had a mild cold with a low grade fever). DS missed naps and DH spent one night up all night long working on school things. Yesterday morning DS grabbed the corner protector off the TV table and DH was tired of putting it back on over again so he left it off and of course that is when DS fell and split his chin on the corner. I was home sick, sleeping. When I woke up, DH just about fell apart. I was feeling a bit better at that point so I sent him back to bed to relax and took over for the afternoon. It's been a rough one.
Hang in there.
It was Valentine's Day - this past Monday...I went on a playdate to the park with my SIL and her DD. We were headed back to our cars (after I had been so protective over DD at the playground) and I tripped over those metal corded ropes...with DD in my arms. But not for long. I hit the car and she hit the asphalt. I will never forget the visual or the sound of her landing ON HER FACE!!! But she is ok now and seemed to forget about it within minutes.
I am still having a hard time with it so I can't lend personal advice but I am trying to listen to others. It happens to EVERYONE!! Everyone has a story!! Now you have yours. Your LO is just fine as is mine. They are resilient and awesome! Just give'em extra hugs and know that you are a wonderful mom. If you weren't, you wouldn't have posted your guilt here!!
