Re: Hospital Tour

  • I'm doing mine on Monday, our Hospital does them every 1st and 3rd Monday of the month. I'm excited to see the Birthing Center. I have been to the ER and been admitted and it was really nice. I hope the Birthing Center is just as nice.

  • I just scheduled ours today for March 1st! We're brand new to the city, so I've never even been inside the hospital where I'll deliver. I definitely want to see!

  • We are going to do it but just haven't scheduled it yet.  Our hospital does it every Thursday and the 2nd Sunday a month.

  • We did the tour last weekend.  I found it very reassuring to see the facility and get a feel for the layout and what was available.  It somehow doesn't seem as scary now.

  • We are. It is part of the class that our Kaiser offers to prep for L&D.  Looking forward to it!

  • Mine is this coming Monday.  I want to see the NICU and the kind of room I'll be in for my stay after c-section.

  • We will be, when I am not 100% sure. All we have to do is call up to l&d to be sure they are not swamped and go in. (Got to love a small town) Even though I am having a planned c/s I want to know what their protocol is, what the PP rooms are like and see what I need to bring for DH.

  • I just called mine to double check that they are still doing the tour on this coming monday because it is Presidents Day, not a SUPER holiday, but its a Military town, they use every excuse for a day off work that they can.

The woman that answered the phone said "Well its not a holiday for us is it?" Seriously? Of course you have to deliver babies on Presidents Day, but you don't have to do a hospital tour...a$$ hole.

  • we have been with our insurance for about 2 years but I have never been to the main hospital. So for nothing else but the fact of knowing where I am going will help, lol.

  • We have our scheduled for March 15th. I delivered DD at a different hospital and have only been to this one for my D&C, I think it will be helpful for DH to know his way around.

  • I should do one, but all of the available dates conflict with our schedule. Luckily, I got an extensive preview of the labor and delivery portion of the hospital when my nephew was born last April so I am not worried if we don't have a formal tour.

I had mine a couple weeks ago and they didn't let us see the NICU because they said it would introduce too many germs but did show us all the different L&D rooms and recovery rooms.

It was very informative and put my mind at ease and I loved the hospital's philosophy towards childbirth and recovery (full-time lactation specialist, rooming-in, etc).

Ditto this.  Our first class is this coming Monday, so I'm not sure if the tour will happen then or in one of the other two classes.  I've gotten a peak at their L&D department, due to my recent issues, but it will be nice to go see the full facility without being stressed about the baby!

  • We were going to, but when we got sent to L&D a couple of weeks back, we pretty much got the jist of it.

  • i did one at 25 weeks and love it because it showed you the two different room they offered at the hospital and walked you to the nusery.

  • We were admitted to the hospital 2 weeks ago for PTL, and on my last day they took me off strict bedrest and said I was on modified BR - so I begged the nurse to take us on a tour.  We had spent 3 days in a birthing room, so we were pretty familiar with all of that, but it was good to see their nursery/special care area, and recovery wing.

  • We did a hospital tour about 3 weeks ago.  I'm planning on a c/s, too, but wanted to see the rooms, etc.

  • I believe a hospital tour comes with our birthing class at the hospital. We're doing it the first Saturday in April. Very excited about it!
  • I have to wait until April. They don't really schedule any tours at the hospital I'm delivering at until you're 5 weeks away from your due date. Although I have delivered there once before, it'll be nice to get a refresher after almost 4 years!
