Babies: 9 - 12 Months

back from our 9 month appointment

we had riley's 9 month well check today and it went well! she *finally* gained weight and is out of the 16lb range that she had been in since november. she's 18lbs 3ozs and 29" long. so, 35th and 95th percentile :)

her head is in the 100th percentile Huh? wtf does that mean??? haha.

i'm scared to start trying meats, cheese, etc. anyone have any tips on introducing them (we make our own baby food)? oh and now for my big AW .... when we came home she stood all by herself in the middle of the room without holding on to anything.. yay!!

I ground (grind?) up cooked chicken and add it to their veggies/fruit (believe it or not, they love chicken and applesauce).  For the cheese, we now give them small pieces of cheese, but I started out adding it to mashed potatoes and they liked it.

Yay for Riley standing!  Oh, and I think big head = big brains Smile

  • Way to go Riley!  Look out Mama...you'll be running after her in no time.

  • Yay Riley!  They measure the head circumference at most apts, so that's great she's in the 100th percentile!  If they give you that blue book they write her height and weight in you might want to check it for "HC" the head circ to see how she's been growing.  They did that in Myles' book.  I paged you a few posts down about a walk sometime soon!
  • we just introduced things slowly I also made my own baby food, for a few weeks I gave him very soft foods until I was more sure of his ability to eat them now its a free for all I give him anything and if its new I just watch him like a hawk.
  • Go Riley! Congrats on a great 9 month appointment.
  • At Super Target they have a really nice "fresh" packaged mozzarella that is already pre-sliced.  I then slice it even more and it's like mini string cheese sticks for her but, softer.  DD loves them and goes crazy when I pull it out of the fridge.  Not much help on the meat front as we are just starting chicken.
  • hah, so her head is bigger than every other 9 month old ever!?  j/k It's weird when they say that. I met someone who said her son was in the 150th percentile for weight lol.

My LO always has 95th percentile head circ. It means they are super smart Wink

  • Yay Riley!! Sophia has been standing all by herself too!

Sophia really won't eat cheese by itself, so I sometimes melt it on some bread or in a tortilla like a quesadilla. She isn't a huge fan of meat either, the only thing she will eat is shredded chicken.

  • Yay Riley! Sarah just finally hit the 16 pound mark last week. And she has a 50th percentile head on a body that isn't even on the chart. I agree- big head, big brain ;)

  • Yay Riley!

Bri's head is supposedly big too!

At her appt last week she was 18 lbs (25%) 27in (35ish%) and head was 75%

  • Riley loves baked or boiled poultry (you know us, she gets it cut in strips).  The first time she had cheese was melted on toast, but she really likes mozzarella cheese sticks!  I can't believe how tall your Riley is!  I'm glad she got past the 16 lb mark :)
