Bradley method class

I konw its a bit late but after meeting a potention doula last night and not clicking with her at all we decided we werent going to use one. I feel weird re-starting the process of looking for a doula being almost 36 weeks pregnant.

So I thought that maybe if we took a Bradley method class it would help us in the process and birthing...however i cant seem to find a class anywhere around me or one that is not 5 weeks long. I still work full time( 3 12- hr shift a week; im a nurse) and I dont know where we would find the time to attend a class altho i would love to. Any recommendations? I am reading the hypnobirthing book but I want a little more.

Thanks :)

Re: Bradley method class

  • Right now there aren't any Bradley teachers in Miami.  There's only one in Broward that may do a private class but she maybe too busy.  I don't have time to offer private classes right now.

Personally I would look for another doula at this point.  You wouldn't be the only pregnant mom to hire a doula late in the game.  You can do some preliminary interviewing over the phone and then schedule a meeting.

Kelly is in Miami and also provides some childbirth education.

    Good luck!

  • My DH and I were also on the fence about a doula since we did take a Bradley Method class, because we also had a meeting with a potential doula that didn't go so well. However, on the recommendation of looking for another one by our Bradley instructor, we found the kindest, warmest maternal doula ever. She's in Boca, so not really your neck of the woods, but I have to say that she made all the difference. We don't have any family here and to have a doula really eased my anxieties, kind of like my mom's stand-in. We used Amazing Births' service.

  • Hi there nickcrazy16,

I am a labor doula and childbirth educator in miami, but cover Broward too. Its totally not too late to find a doula! Ive been hired at 39 weeks before, or as early as 12 weeks, so everyones story is different. I can meet with you to do a free consult very soon, and if it works out great, and if not, I can always still recommend other doulas if your still interested.

With regard to the class, I teach a private general CBE class, which is what I like to call a one day intensive class. It usually lasts about 5 hours, or we can break it up over 2 sessions, day or night, whatever fits your schedule. Im flexible. The class is not a specific type of class, but I do support the Bradley Method, Hypnobirthing and Birthing from Within types of education. So if you have read the books on any of those, I can certainly speak the language and we can veer more in one direction that you prefer. I am completely open to supporting and discussing all types of goals, whether it be natural or medicated childbirth, as well as discussing all of the specific things that go on here in South Florida.

Contact me privately below so we discuss more info and hopefully answer any other questions you may have. Looking forward to hearing from you and hopefully helping you out!

  • PS - Thanks Tracy for the recommendation! I have to come up to your next session of classes to see you and your students. Hope all is well and see you soon! xoxo Kelly
  • The Bradley classes that we took were 10 weeks long.  The method defintly worked for me and my husband, and we had a successful birth.   Good luck!
