Babies: 9 - 12 Months

Um. So. Squeezy fruits.

How did you teach your kid how to eat these things? Do they feed themselves, or do you hold it up to their mouths and squeeze it for them?

I'm really trying to get away from stuff I have to feed Jack, 'cause he's all about autonomy right now. But these little pouches seem so dang convenient. What's the deal with them?

  • I was wondering the same thing. Do they just suck on them as they would with a bottle? Fill me in as well.

  • At this point I just want him to hold his own bottle. He can hold it but refuses. He also refuses to take a sippy cup.

  • I just put it to logans mouth and squeezed a little in at a time. He figured out he could suck out the fruit pretty quickly.
    Effing crazy people.
  • That sucks, MCC. Jack holds his own stuff, and he holds the squeeze fruit package, but he doesn't seem to understand the squeezing part.

  • What is a squeezy fruit?

  • Are you talking about the fruit stuff that Happy Baby sells?

I don't know what squeezy fruits areeeeeeeeee. Sad

  • They are like little squeezy packages of applesauce and/or other pureed fruit.

Ohhhh. Okay, I think that's pretty similar to the squeezable stuff Happy Baby makes.

I've given them to Lucy, she'll hold them, and like Monj said, I started squeezing...she got a hang of it and realized it's easy to squeeze and suck on her own.

  • Liam hates pureed baby food. :(

This exactly. I know that babies can learn to do it themselves but Bryce usually only has them when we are out so he hasn't had much practice.

  • SA, I consider it a baby smoothie instead of a puree. Wink

So does C. We've done BLW from the beginning, but I recently bought some purees to see if I could get him to eat a little more in the solids department. He hates them, makes an awful face like I'm poisoning him, and then refuses to open his mouth and waves his arms to knock the spoon out of my hand if it gets too close to his face. So... No purees for us.

  • I don't know what to tell you annie. My LO understood what to do as soon as I handed him a package. Target sells little spons that can screw onto the package so it's more like you or LO is eating with a spoon if that helps.
  • DD sucks on them, but I still have to mash it around now and then to get it to the top.
  • At first we would squeeze a little bit at a time in his mouth but now he has figured out how to suck it out.  I can't get him to drink out of a sippy but offer him one of those and he is good to go.  Also, in case you didn't know, they make veggie ones that he LOVES.

  • I have to hold it for about half the pouch (or else she squishes too much out) and then she does it.  She just sucks it like a straw.

These are the best thing that have ever happened to me/Addie.  She refused to eat fruit from a spoon and the only thing she'd self feed was bananas.  Now I have a fruitaholic.
