sprout will be taking her first airplane trip here soon, and we're debating buying her a ticket.
DH is convinced there is no way she'll roll with a 2 hour flight in our laps. i don't think it would be easy, but i don't know about undoable. keep in mind: we'd be entertaining her without the assistance of A/V equipment ![]()
still, the tickets are crazy expensive, and it would be a big thing to get her that 3rd seat. WDYT?
Re: airplanes + a kiddo seat?
that's a good tip!
hmmm, i don't think we have a bag that will fit her car seat... i'll have to look into that either way.
After a year, I get my kids a seat unless it's a crazy short flight (Like, 1.5 hours or less).
I have big kids and they travel very well in their carseats.
they'll both be daytime flights when she's not likely to sleep.
she's not a fan of her carseat tho. she's RF in the car, so maybe it will be a different thing completely buckled in FF in an airplane seat next to us.
andrea922: the safety consideration is a good one. thanks for that reminder.
This. We just did a 1.5 hour plane ride, and she did far better in my lap than she ever would have done in her seat. Also, if it's you + someone else + LO, check the plane layout too. I seriously considered buying her a seat, but when I looked at the plane configuration online I realized that it was a plane with only 2 seats/row on each side of the aisle...meaning that if I bought DD a seat, only one of use would be able to sit next to her and the other one would have to sit in another row. It was more valuable to me to have DH's help all flight than to have the extra seat.
And yes, I know safety is an issue, but realistically I wouldn't have been able to keep her in the car seat the entire time "in case something happened" anyway.
Everything is so exciting when you're one!
