Any of you mamas who said they were going to stalk for me, you don't have to.
Its going to be $45. Plus $5 shipping if I get it myself, or about $10 if someone else snags it.... Forget it. I'm not spending that much.
I found the fabric and I'm going to get a custom done by a WAHM that doesn't jack up her prices like crazy.
Re: Alright nevermind on Cat Toss
I'm not totally sure that's true once you include labor and overhead. Besides, almost any item you buy in a store is marked up at least 200% over the retailers "wholesale" cost which is often marked up 20% - 100% over the maufacturer's cost. Most people don't know it but most commercial items are marked up 300% - 400% over their production costs. The exception to this are "Made in the USA" items which generally have a high retail price even though the mark-up is lower just because labor is so expensive here.
I understand mark up values and the like, especially for the US made items with labor costs. I still don't think that her overhead is that large, and the labor that it takes I personally don't believe justifies a $50 diaper. Egh, it is what it is though. Why would she not mark them up largely if there was such a demand for a print and it's the hot ticket item right now. You're not going to make something that gives you a $5 profit if it's that hot and in such few quantities.
I don't care what she charges, I just know that I will not be one of the buyers. That just means more for you guys! It's a win win, but I still think it's crazy.
I agree with your statement that she would be foolish not to mark up a high demand item. The rules of economics dictate that an item should be priced as high as possible while still selling all that you can produce. I suspect that if Suze actually did this ALL of her dipes would be $50+.
Actually, while I'm sure the gross margin is well above $5, I bet the net profit on her $35 dipes isn't much more than 14%.
yeah, and at least you know you are supporting hard-working people with good wages here
I feel much better about that than the Sbish wool items that are made in China ... even if they are making fair wages, I feel like the mark-up is probably still a lot - I feel like they could be made in the U.S. for those prices, but just MO
TOTALLY AGREE!!!
Wow. Sbish is made in China? I already thought they were priced high for machine knit wool. I had no idea they were MIC. Off my list.
Yes but they are MADE WITH LOVE in China! LMAO!
