Working Moms

What would you do?

I returned to work full time a few months ago.  I really want to work part-time to have a better work/life balance.  I've been working 50 hours per week since back at work (used to work more before DD)....  I am interviewing for PT jobs and came across one that sounds interesting.  HOWEVER - I will be taking a step back career wise.  I'm a manager now & this potential job is in a different field with much less responsibility.  I'm interested though because it could mean a new career for me.  Part of me is really excited because its part time, the other part of me is freaking out because I will be leaving my field of work.  I don't love my job now - in fact most days I hate it.  But I guess it's a fear of the unknown?  The possibility of having more time with DD sounds fantastic to me!  Advice please =)

Re: What would you do?

  • I think if you can afford to work only part time then go for it! I know that if we could afford it I would definately change jobs or career paths to be home more with LO. Good luck!

  • I would say go for it too. Nothing will change if you don't get out of your comfort zone. You never know what new opportunities will arise unless you check it out.

  • Thanks ladies!  I need the encouragement.  I can never get this time back with my daughter.  There's plenty of time when she's older for me to work more.  It's scary, but I think that's normal!  Thanks everyone!  Now I have to see if the job will be offered to me, and if the $$ is worth it!
